cash management account taking a LOOONG time to update

I am using a Fidelity CMA as my primary "checking" account. In Money I have this set up as a brokerage account with an associated cash account. Whenever I import new transactions to this account it updates quickly, but once I reconcile/categorize the new transactions the software spends a LOOONG time in "spinning wheel" mode before it completes the action. During this time the total balance of this account (and others) can be seen to go up and down until finally settling on the right balance as if it is going through the whole register every time I import new transactions.

Anybody else run into this? My other brokerage accounts do not appear to behave like this (both at Fidelity and elsewhere).

Note: when I say "LOOONG" I mean something on the order of 10 seconds, whereas for most other accounts it is practically instant

Unless I didn't comprehend your post properly ("I have this set up as a brokerage account with an associated cash account "), the CMA should be set up as the Cash account of a brokerage account, rather than the other way around, even if nothing transpires in the "linked" Investment account side, where you can invest in secondary CDs.

djevel: How do you import the transactions from Fidelity?

If you use Microsoft Money  Sunset and you use Bills, you might consider
File->Repair->RemoveAllBillsData
on a copy of your file.

This Remove All Bills Data feature would be for people who have experienced their Money file to run excessively slow.

To get some information within the program,
File->Repair->RemoveAllBillsData
Read the information. Then click cancel.

Before proceeding, make an extra copy or backup of your file in case you want to undo something.

The problem will be that if you remove all bills, you will probably want to add at least some of your bills back.  This can be done manually with the aid of the reports that you print out before removing the bills.

A technique that could help simplify re-entering your bills afterward would be to go your register and selecting a representative instance of your past bill and selecting "Make Recurring" (Ctrl+E).  This would be especially helpful if the bill is complex, such as involving a split.

Thanks Ameridan,

Yes, I am indeed using the cash account of the brokerage account. Since the cash portion can be disabled in Money I was trying to be extra clear, but ended up making it more confusing. My main point was that the CMA is set up under the "investment accounts" as opposed to under "bank accounts"

A year+ ago I used the investment side of the account to invest in specific money market funds, but that hasn't been worth my time lately so the money is now all on the cash side.

Cal L,

That is an excellent point. The big difference between this particular CMA and all my other investment accounts is that it is linked to Money's Bills feature. I will make a copy of my file and play around with that some to see if it makes a difference. Thank you!

And yes, I am using Sunset coupled with Pocketsense. As I indicated originally the import works perfectly fine; it is the final step of the manual reconciliation (matching downloaded entries with existing entries) that results in the wait.
