Hi all,

I've had Money running fine under Windows 10 for the last few years but have just acquired a new laptop. It came of course with Win 11.
I downloaded MS Money Plus Deluxe from a safe and recommended site (softronic). I understand this is the so-called "sunset" version.
My issue is that Money does not run and I'm getting tired on aborting the program with Task Manager!
I have tried all the usual "fixes" online such as modifying the Registry Entry for Internet Exploxer version.  I even corrected the wrong program size in the Installed Apps listing in windows settings (from the erroneous 101GB to 101 MB) again by changing the registry value.
But Money is still freezing when launched.

Anyone have any other ideas please?

Thanks
Steve

The links in my blog are safe and verified, if you want to try an alternative source.

Do also put in the patched version of mnyob99.dll  after install.

Additional thoughts.... after the patch, if you still have the problem, try RunAsAdmisrator.
Try disconnecting from the internet, and launching.

If either of those work, let us know.

I use the last UK version of Money in Windows 11 which works fine. This is MS Money 2005 installation file Money2005-UK-QFE2.exe

Does Money run ok if you've deactivated your Internet connection?  If so take a look at this:

Hi again all,

Thanks for all your suggestions. However, Money is still not launching after I've tried all your suggestions. Tom.h - Money still doesn't run when I deactivate my internet connection. Cal Learner - I have tried the patched mnyob99.dll as well but without any luck.  Tried the latest UK version but that did not run either.
Problem has to be connected to differences between Windows 11 and Windows 10, because the standard US sunset version runs fine a second laptop running Windows 10, without requiring all these registry and DLL fixes.  It's very strange.
Anyone have any other ideas?  Because I am becoming resigned to the fact that I may just have to use Money on my Windows 10 machine.
Thanks
Steve

I am running Money Plus Deluxe Sunset with patch on a computer that came with Windows 11. None of the registry patches you mentioned, but I do have the one that lets me import *.QFX the same a *.OFX.

If you run without the patch, it can seem to run well for a while, but an OS update comes along, and you get a serious symptom. The bug causes the program to branch to a pseudorandom place. The Raymond Chen article on finding the problem is an interesting read IMO. https://devblogs.microsoft.com/oldnewthing/20121113-00/?p=6103

I have that UK version running fine on 3 PCs using Windows 11. I suspect a problem with your Windows 11 installation. The first step is to run sfc /scannow from a command admin prompt. If that doesn't work I would try a repair install.
