MS-Money (USMoneyDlxSunset) has been successfully running under Win11 for several yrs on desktop PC.  However, now Money starts up, briefly displays the Home Page then crashes after just a few seconds.

I'm pretty sure it's not a *.mny file problem.  I've restored multiple backups (taken before the date when crash started) with same results.  Money also crashes on Home Page after opening the sample.mny file supplied with install (C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Money Plus\sample.mny).  Also, if I rename my last opened *.mny file & then open Money it prompts to create a new file (among other options).  These steps will create a new mny file (e.g. 'temp.mny') but the app behavior is the same - Home Page is displayed for a few seconds & then Money crashes.

The replacement for mnyob99.dll was downloaded/installed (long ago).

So... I'm at an impasse.

Windows Event Viewer shows this Application Error:

Faulting application name: MSMoney.EXE, version: 17.0.0.3817, time stamp: 0x4b7c9809

I've search this Group's conversations but didn't find anything directly related to ntdll.dll or anything helpful related to Home Page crash after Money startup.

FWIW, on 12/1/25 I uninstalled the latest Windows Security Update (KB5068861) which had been installed around the time Money started crashing on 11/24 (but I think update was installed after the Money issue started).  Money still crashes after that update uninstalled.

Any ideas or help will be GREATLY appreciated.

You may have downloaded a poison OFX/QFX file. That would reside in your temp folder. You could delete that with this line in a command file, or probably in the run window.

del  %temp%\*.tmp

There is another way that involves RegEdit, but I would prefer the one I suggested above. If you use Vanguard, there is a workaround for that.

WOOHOO!!!!  Deleting all of those temp files fixed the problem!  (target folder was:  C:\Users\myuser\AppData\Local\Temp\*.tmp)

I had previously deleted all of the OFX/QFX files from the Download folder (i.e. the folder used by Vanguard, et al. to download *FX files) as part of my debugging process prior to posting this thread to the Group.  But obviously that was not enough.

THANKS so much for providing an accurate answer so quickly.   What a relief!

I am pleased that worked. Aril provided the key info on Nov 28 on https://groups.google.com/g/microsoft-money/c/zxildh9zz-s
I went for the same effect by deleting the poison *.tmp file(s), rather than using RegEdit to delete the pointer to the poison file.
