I have been looking for the storage location for my working file, named xxxxxx.mny (the xxx are not the actual name).   The file works great but I don't know where Money has it.  I want to see how to change it from within the program.

I' m using Microsoft Money Plus Deluxe ver 17.0.120.3817

Under "Tools" I can click on "Setting" easily see the "Backup Settings" and clciking on that, I could change as needed.

I can see under "Program Files (x86) a folder names "Microsoft Plus" folder but I can't remember how to unhide any hidden files.

I am running Windows 10, but in a few weeks I'll buy a new computer and I want to find that rascal file.

When I have my file open, and pulldown File|Open, it starts in the same folder. Pull down the Look In?!?

Or doe a search on *.mny in the Documents folder.   BUT what do you want to  do within the file?

I want to know where it is, so when I buy a new computer, then make a fresh install of the Money program on said new computer, I will copy the file from the old computer and place it. Onto the new computer and launch it on the new computer.

I then will no longer use that old computer for Money.  And I the old computer will be decommissioned.

Dick,

I'm travelling today and I'll try that tonight when I'm home or tomorrow morning.

Thanks,

Mark

You never want your  *.mny file to be within  "Program Files (x86)[\Microsoft Plus" folder.

The one thing you may need from that is the patched version of
"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Money Plus\MNYCoreFiles'mnyob99.dll"
That patch is also available elsewhere.

The others have told you how to find your *.mny file. But you might also want to copy over some of your recent *.mbf files to the new computer.

If your username is different on the new computer, you will need to change the backup setup. I would want to keep the username the same, myself.
