Please test this version for those interested. Wine stable has been upgraded to version 11 and some things have changed.

Money Sunset Deluxe and H&B should operate the same as they did before on wine 10. I was seeing Money hang on exit late in 2025 with the Staging and Devel versions of wine but so far wine stable has been pretty stable. ;-D

Money 2005 UK and the others still have the same limitations as before (balance account causes Money to hang, import transactions as well?) but for the life of me I can't get it to recognize comctl32.dll so that means the Account List Subtotals will be offset. This is actually the reason why I haven't uploaded msmoneysetup sooner.

The latest Ubuntu and Debian should be supported now, please test if you use them and let me know. (Ubuntu 25.10 questing and Debian 14 forky)

I have not tested on Fedora or Arch yet. Please let me know if you run one of those distros and you find any problems.

I haven't done any work on MacOS either. Existing users should be unaffected unless they know how to upgrade wine or if they reinstall Money. Please let me know if anyone needs help.

I'm trying to prioritize the primary users which I'm thinking is Sunset Deluxe on Linux so far.

Let me know how it goes, and don't forget to attach the log files if you have trouble.

Thanks for the update. The new script did install MS Money on Ubuntu 24.04 and it opened MS Money OK. Haven't tested it out to make sure everything still works, but it does install now.

Hi Nathan,

I didn't have as much luck as bill.
Install.sh ran but did not complete the installation.
I reran Install.sh but had similar results.
I've attached the relevant logs

Hi Kevin,

It looks like your wine installation is stuck between wine 10 and wine 11. Maybe from the timeshift restore?

In any case, you need to fix it. I think the easiest way is to run the Uninstall.sh script. If you don’t want to do that, then run:

$ sudo apt remove winehq-stable wine-stable wine-stable-amd64 wine-stable-i386

Either of those should work, then run Install.sh again.

Hi Nathan,
I looked at the Software Manager and both 10 and 11are reported to be installed.
The way things are behaving, it's like Wine is broken so I think you're on to something there.
I'll give your suggestion a shot and report back.

Hi Nathan,
Uninstall did not do the trick.

However, the sudo command that you supplied DID!  Thank you for that.  I'm stoked!

The Software Manager reports only Wine 11 as being installed.

It appears that all is right with the world again.

I'll give Money a little closer look now that it is working again.
Thank you for your help.

Hi Nathan,

Ugh!  It looks like importing an OFX causes Money to crash.  This could be dealbreaker for using Wine 11.

If I can't import OFX files with Wine 11, I'll have to go back to using Wine 10.  Not a problem as far as I can tell.

I'll let it go for now I have some things to do. This is disappointing but at least I have an avenue to follow.

Cool! Glad to hear it. Uninstall.sh should work as long as apt (or Software Manager) isn’t caught in a catch-22. I had a similar issue when testing the new Install script and thought you might need that sudo command. The older distros still use 32bit libraries but the two new ones (Debain 14 and Ubuntu 25.10) do not. I wanted to test that functionality on my machine but Debian 13 Trixie still uses 32bit libraries.

I might upload another zip file in a day or too. There’s been a lot of work on comctl32 in wine and I’m leaning towards not using a real WinXP version of comctl32.dll, but that means Subtotals will be offset in the Account List page. The tradeoff being better stability when Money is running; still thinking though.

Kevin,

I just imported some transactions from my banks, no issues. However, I’ve moved on from pocketsense (I don’t have any direct connect banks anymore). I have two banks (PenFed and NavyFed) + Vanguard so I’m using a simple script to script to grab all ofx/qfx from my Downloads folder and just straight import into Money, after some minor scrubbing.

Were you using pocketsense when the crash happened? I kinda remember you had an import issue back when we first started all of this last year and I think it just kinda cleared itself up? Let me know, and send your logs if you can get it to crash again.

Hi Nathan,

Money crashes at the point of going from the menu bar to File > Import > Downloaded Statement > Crash
It doesn't really ever get to the point of importing the OFX file.  It crashes when it tries to access the Import File window.

I have found a workaround though!
If I right-click the OFX file and choose Open With > Microsoft Money Import Handler, the OFX file imports as expected.

Thanks for this. This further supports that my WinXP comctl32 is causing trouble. I’m going to try to reproduce your error first, but expect a new zipfile without comctl32. The Subtotals offset will be a result of this, but it seems acceptable to trade the subtotals for stable functionality.

I was looking at what else was fixed/upgraded in Wine 11. So I have been adding msxml3, msxml4, and vcrun2005 with winetricks for years now. msxml3 has been updated so much we *almost* don’t need it anymore. The portfolio view is squished/collapsed with the wine builtin msxml3, so we still need it (for now).

Hi Nathan,

It seems that, in my case anyway, that Money crashes anytime it tries to access the file system.
I did a quick test.  I opened Money to the password screen and click File > Open.  Money crashed.
error log attached.  It does seem that comctl32.dll does have its issues.

Your error notwithstanding, can you doubleclick on your statements (ofx/qfx files)  and see if they import into Money? It should autoimport.

No they don't import.  The OFX file is associated to the Text Editor so double-clicking them just opens them in the Text Editor.

You can change that. You can map them to the Money Import Handler. Usually right-click, open with, Other Application…

OK. I can reproduce the error, and I have the fix. New version will be waiting for you tomorrow.

I'll give Right-click > Open With > Microsoft Money Import Handler > Other Application a try.

I'll keep an eye out for the new build.  I'm going to hit the sack for the night.

Thanks again for all you do to get this thing working.
