Changes:

- Now using the latest winetricks 01252026

- I only install vcrt2005 for Sunset editions only; the INTL versions don't seem to use those dll's.

- Added some logging to confirm that winetricks installs what it's supposed to.

I tested importing ofx/qfx files in the 2005 UK edition and did not experience any crashes. If anyone who runs Linux and one of the 2005 versions of Money can test this that would be great. Unfortunately, the "Balance this account" function still causes Money to hang despite trying everything in the world I could think of.

The interesting thing is if you click "Balance this account" the very first time Money runs during Money 2005 installation (when you select your mny file) it WILL balance the account. But once you close Money and open it again the hang will happen every time (unless you reinstall Money again). Interesting, but also annoying. I've spent MANY hours on this.

I weeded out a few more dll overrides that aren't used at all, figured out that some dll's are only used during installation, and a few others are only used when Money runs.

This lead to a bit more "exploratory surgery." I tried adding and removing some dll's one at a time to try to further figure out exactly what Money depends on. I discovered that I could make Money run with IE6 dll's nearly as well as IE7, but the process of extracting IE6 dll's was a bit more of a pain; my attempts in the past of actually installing IE6 always had display artifacts. The Money 2005 "Balance this account" bug still exists, but IE7 dll's are easier to work with, tested, and they work. IE8 does have a 64-bit installer but it always caused trouble when trying to run Money; IE8 doesn't like the "zones" that Money files are trying to access or run from. I tried manually loading IE8's dlls but had the same problem.

So to recap:

Money Sunset users shouldn't see any difference compared to the 17 Jan 2026 zip file; Account List subtotal headers are still offset but it seems to run and close cleanly every time for me.

Money 2005 users should be able to import ofx/qfx files. "Balance this account" still doesn't work as it should; reinstalling Money is a painful workaround.

Testing msmoneysetup_Linux_64bit_FullInstall_30Jan2026.zip

Xubuntu 24.04.3 VM, (brand-spanking new) with Wine11 manually installed (none of the other prereqs manually installed) However, note that some some of the prereqs were already installed OOB.

Extracted msmoney setup to ~ and prepped
Ran ./Install.sh

Installation finished successfully, Money running as expected. System seems faster on Money shutdown

Install log attached.

Thanks Gerardus!

My experience has been the same.
