Hi all,

I'm finding strange behaviour on reports now.

Subtotalling transactions by months results in the month-ending date
being out by a month. For instance, transactions in April are listed for
the month of March

Pic attached....any help appreciated!

Cheers, Stan

I just tried it, and it behaved properly.  (Sunset H&B, Win 10, in the U.S.)

That report doesn't work for me at all using Microsoft Money Plus Deluxe Version 17.0.120.3817
It gives an error message - there has been an error reading or writing the file "." and closes MIcrosoft Money when you click on the OK button

If I Reset all my reports, deleting all my custom report, it works but eventually it seems to crash

Stan, I presume Money 2005 UK.

I would save an extra copy of my file, and then try a repair.
Consider the following sequence:
File->RepairMoneyFile->QuickFileRepair
File->RepairMoneyFile->StandardFileRepair level 1
File->RepairMoneyFile->QuickFileRepair

Level 1 resets reports and deletes customised reports. I don't know how it differs from Tools->Settings->ReportSettings->ResetReports, but I suspect it might do something extra. Level 2 is more general.

Cal,

Weird behavior in the Account Transactions reports has been around for awhile.  In case it might be useful, I've attached my crib sheet of
"Weird MSMoney Stuff that Is Not Fixed with Money Sunset"
Item #1 is an issue with dates that are off by a month in the "Account Transactions" report.

Also note item #12, which I encountered just last week.  If a report uses "All Payees" it's important to tick the "All Payees" box every time the report is run.  Businesses that make slight changes to the payee name for every transaction (looking at you, Amazon) generate constant updates to the payee list.  These won't be picked up in, for example, a "Favorite" report that you set up and saved a few weeks ago unless you select "Customize" and re-select "All Payees" before you run it.

This is certainly not a full list of fixes and improvements to MSMoney that would be really nice to have.  Dick Watson tracked many issues over the years and, sadly, very few of them were implemented.

Bill, thanks for putting that together!   I added a link to my copy of your pdf at (reference page) https://microsoftmoneyoffline.wordpress.com/microsofts-money-forum/ to make it a little easier to find in the future.  Re #1, are you at Win 11?   I've never seen this behavior (with Win 10).

As to #12, I manually edit every Amazon transaction's payee to "Amazon.com".  Wonder if Cal has written a scrubber for that ;)

I have thought about that scrubber. I am thinking it would use RegEx getting from a file prepared by the user, or would be in a section of the Scrub*.py program that would get modified by the user...

I am thinking it might be best for credit cards, but I guess it could be used for brokerage cash transactions also.

I sometimes go for a while before inspiration strikes and I write.

Cal, it isn't a big thing worthy of your time.  I was just kidding.  Chances are, you have to manually edit category too for each transaction, as I'm sure purchases involve a wide range of choices.  There might be circumstances when one wouldn't want payee changed to Amazon.com (ie Amazon Prime membership fee that is a business expense).
