I've used MSMoneyQuotes for a few years. This is my first issue. When I try to pull the stock price for Seagate (STX), it pulls STX (Stacks on Crypto). I looked through this group and created a file called symbolmap.csv and put STX and a23rjc in column 1 and 2. The file is in the same folder as MSMoneyQuotes. It still pulls in the Stacks price instead of Seagate. Any pointers to what I'm doing wrong would be appreciated. Thanks

Hi Steve

Ignore my previous message.

Have you put MSMoneyQuotes into verbose mode (-v switch in the command line) and had a look in the Command window to see if MSMoneyQuotes is using symbolmap.csv to resolve the symbol rather than Money/MSMoneyQuotes obtaining the quote directly from MSN Money using the STX symbol?

The CSV file is best created with a text editor and not excel. Elsewhere it is mentioned that one may need to put a duplicate entry for the first line if you use excel.

Also worth a try is not to use STX as the money symbol but to something that cannot be looked up as a stock symbol. Also try setting up investment as a fund not as a stock with a unique symbol.

As suggested keep the verbose option on to help find out what is happening.

Did you use the -m switch to cause MSMoneyQuotes to use the map? While I expect you did, and you probably thought it went without saying, I am asking anyway.

Do you routinely use the map for all stocks? That will increase speed.

How many lines or bytes does your SymbolMap.csv contain?

Thanks guys. I redid the file in a text editor and now it works. The -v option was really useful. Thanks! Is there a list somewhere of other options?

https://gaiersoftware.com/Money/DetailsAndHelp tells about the other options/switches.

After using the -m -v switches, I copy the from the screen, and replace " -> " with commas and append to the SymbolMap.csv
