Hello all, i recently converted some shares of VTSAX to VTI in a Vanguard Traditional IRA.
What would be the best way to account for this in Microsoft Money Sunset?
I initially tried just Remove Shares of VTSAX and Add Shares of VTI but that seems very rudimentary. Is there a better way?

Thanks!

In an IRA, you could just Sell the all of the  VTSAX and Buy the VTI with the proceeds. It is that simple. Tax lots don't matter in an IRA.

The following method would even work even in a taxable account. It is not trivial, but not as hard as it first appears.  A few minutes should do it.

In Money, an ETF is treated as a stock. Create a new investment with the correct of type Stock, name and symbol VTI.

Go to  investment VTSAX, blank the symbol in Details,  and then choose InvestmentActivities.

Add a fake BUY of VTSAX that is bigger than your maximum holding (maybe 10000 shares), and dated before your first real buy (maybe January 1, 1980).

Change each transaction to the investment using the drop-down list, starting with the oldest real Buy.
Keep going until there are no more VTSAX transactions remaining.  At
that point you can "delete" VTSAX.  Note that "delete" only hides,
so you will not be able to use VTSAX name for another investment.

When there are no real transactions, delete the fake Buy.

Let us know if you encounter problems with that.
