Hello fellow MS Money fans!
Al loooong time user (25 years) of this very effective application, currently stuck on a Windows 10 Pro machine which Windows updates have failed miserably for long enough to force me to abandon the device. The new PC (terrific) came with Windows 11 Home  (64-bit ARM). I stilll have the ISO file downloaded some 9 years ago from a reputable source and used to install on the Windows 10 machine. Unfortunately both that ISO file and other ISO files downloaded ecently all rersult in the same error:

" Error launching D:\money\setup.exe
<OK>
The Microsoft Money 2000 setup failed. Please try re-running the Installation Wizard"

Any suggestions from  your good selves gatefully received. :-)

I would download the Sunset version and install that - it should be able to open your Money 2000 file

I was unable to open a Money 2000 file with Sunset. I had to export each account from Money 2000 and then import each account individually into Sunset.  If you don't have a working version of Money 2000 you would need a different approach.

I have a section in my blog https://microsoftmoneyoffline.wordpress.com/2010/05/09/intro/#downloads labelled " Old Money versions will run only under 32-bit Windows ", that explains how to first convert up to Money 2004, prior to then upgrading to Sunset Money.

I would follow Ameridan's website as it usually has precise guidance.

Thanks fellas for your prompt responses.

I'll give the Sunset version a go, although some sites suggest that, being based outside the USA, I am a user of the "international" version, whose files will apparently  not be readable by Sunset

https://windowsreport.com/microsoft-money-windows-10-2/  ... "Even though Microsoft Money Sunset offers the same features as its predecessors, we have to mention that certain features are missing. For example, you cannot import data files from non-US versions of Microsoft Money"
Confirmed  at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microsoft_Money "Money Plus Sunset cannot import data files from non-US editions of Money"
And Microsdoft Support: What Is Microsoft Money Plus Sunset?   states the product applies to:
Microsoft Money Plus Deluxe
Microsoft Money Plus Home & Business
Microsoft Money Plus Premium
Microsoft Money Essentials
i.e. no mention of my "Money 2000 Standard"

and  furthermore states "File conversion from older versions of Money: The Sunset versions will be able to open and convert Money Plus files and files from older versions of Money (e.g. Money 2006, Money 2007). The Sunset version cannot convert files created by regional (non-US) versions of Money"

But.... nothing ventured, nothing gained. So here goes nothing ...."

Will keep you posted.
Cheers.

The above ARM part would worry me, in terms of compatibility.

Money Sunset will not be able to open or convert files that were not from a North American version of Money.

That, along with the download links, is also covered on Ameridan's site.

I also doubt that a computer with an ARM processor will run Microsoft Money, but maybe they have emulation software.

Thanks @hleofx, seems like your ARM worries were justified as far as the Money2000 Standard (International) v8.0 setup.exe goes - it defeated my best efforts. I thought ARM had cost me a LEG! However, I DID manage to install 2004 Money Deluxe Version 140.0.120.1105 on the Windows 11 PC (hooray!) Money2004 read the Money2000 v8.0 data file (phew, relief!) – although I had to discard the neat functionality I’d used to issue (and manage payment of) simple tax invoices for some casual consulting: “The information entered in the Business area will unfortunately be unavailable in this version of Money” -  ah boo!
But at least that was better than painfully exporting the 42 accounts that have been active over the 25 years…. one at a time…. then importing each into the Windows 11 PC….one at a time, entering the account title and type….. only to discover that you CANNOT EXPORT LOAN ACCOUNTS !!!!

Thanks again for your response. Stay well,
Mike.
