pocket sense

I have continued to use Money for many years but had never bothered to try and automate any downloading of bank transactions.  I finally installed python and pocketsense but I did not realize that it may no longer even be possible for many banks.  I quickly learned that ofxhome no longer is being updated.  I tried to create an account for one of my banks and used the information on the dated moneydance page.  When I tried to add the account it gave a download error and stated incorrect username and password.  I tried several times to make sure I had entered the password correctly.

Is it even worth trying to set up pocketsense in 2026?

After many years I thought I would give pocket sense a try: I have finally gotten tired of downloading ofx files one website at a time.  However, it appears that I may have waited much too long.  I note that OFXhome is no longer active and the information I get from the moneydance file is also very dated.

This is the first bank I am trying - Presidential Bank.

This is the information from the money dance page:
"id" = "md:1381" "uses_fi_tag" = "y" "access_type" = "OFX" "fi_name" = "Presidential Bank, FSB" "bootstrap_url" = "https://ofxdc.prd1.digitalinsight.com/cmr/cmr.ofx" "fi_id" = "255073345" "app_id" = "QWIN" "fi_org" = "DI" "app_ver" = "2700"

This is what I entered into the sites.dat file:
<site>
    siteName     : Presidential Bank
    acctType     : BASTMT
    fiorg        : DI
    fid          : 1381
    url          : https://ofxdc.prd1.digitalinsight.com/cmr/cmr.ofx
    bankid       : 255073345
    brokerid     :
    ofxVer       :
    appid        : QWIN
    appver       : 2700
    mininterval  : 7
    timeOffset   :
    delay        :
skipZeroTrans:
userAgent    :
dtAcctUp    :
clientUID    :
</site>

When I try to add the account using setup.py, after I enter the username and password it states an error occurred requesting accounts from the site. Please check the username and password. I am confident I have entered the correct username and password. Are my settings incorrect or could it be that the data is outdated?

Any guidance would be much appreciated and I apologize in advance if my concerns have been answered elsewhere.

Pocketsense is amazing, but fewer and fewer banks are supporting the OFX downloads. If I were starting now, I probably wouldn’t bother to set it up. Even Citi, which has been one of the last “holdouts” seems to be going through a transition now, and it’s up in the air if we’ll continue to be able to use the download functionality.

Instead, look for banks that provide QIF downloads that you can import directly, or switch over to Fidelity (if you don’t need a physical bank anymore; most of us don’t). Then, look through this group for Cal’s F2O tool, which allows you to bulk download all of your Fidelity accounts in one go; it’s amazing.

I still like Pocketsense just for processing and combining 12 15 account ofx/qfx files in the import folder.  Otherwise they would all import separately and each would need to be acknowledged.
