Fidelity CSV to OFX tools is working great, so thank you very much.

Trying to import newly created OFX with ticker symbol SPY.

I had past transactions for the symbol SPY in different account and I named the investment also as SPY.

If I select “this investment already exists in my investment portfolio”, I am unable to find it in the dropdown

If I select “Add this as new investment in my investment portfolio”, I get following message

What is the best course of action in this situation?

Thank you for your assistance.

I suspect the old symbol was set up for something other than a stock (Other or Mutual Fund). Find any reference to the old SPY, and choose go to investment, details. Blank the symbol on the old SPY in Details. Change the name.

If you cannot find it, there is a way around that.

Symbol reuse happens, but if you "deleted" the investment, you will not find it listed in the Portfolio, even if you select to show closed positions.
If you really want to get rid of symbol XYZ for reuse, try entering a
dividend for XYZ into the name of the investment; type those three
letters, and then hit Tab. Choose Dividend. Note that the name in
the box may have changed. Finish creating the dividend.

Right-click that dividend transaction, and choose GoToInvestment. Click
Details. Whatever that investment is, if the symbol is XYZ, blank
or change its symbol. If the name is XYZ, Rename it to something
else.

The symbol XYZ should now be freed up. Delete the fake dividend.

Then tell Money that the current SPY is a new investment.

Yes previous three transaction used investment type as Index, I think my best option is to delete those old transactions, process reading in new ofx file and then reenter old three transaction manually making sure investment is selected correctly from the list, will that work?

You need to get rid of symbol on the old SPY entry in Money. Then rename that security defined as an index to be Old_SPY_index or some such.

Copy F2O_DB.csv F2O_DB.csv.bak

Do those two things first. This next part may or may not be needed.
Use Notepad or Notepad++ to edit F2O_DB.csv

I expect you have a line that says something like
SPY,78462F103,STOCK,SPDR S&P500 ETF TRUST TRUST UNIT DEPOSITARY RECEIPT,,,,,
Change that to
SPY,zzzzzzSPY,STOCK,SPDR S&P500 ETF TRUST TRUST UNIT DEPOSITARY RECEIPT,,,,,

Or if you already have a line like the second one in bold, change it to match the first one.

See if you can import stuff for the new. You may want to change any transactions for Old_SPY_index to the new one.

Followed first two steps. I read in the new imported transactions from OFX.

Then deleted old transactions and reentered with correct investment type. All good. Thanks for your prompt help.
