Money6 Quotes is not retrieving funds prices from MSN Money  today
In fact, my last fund price updates are from Wednesday 24th May at 6pm Irish time

The prices are displayed in real-time, with a short delay, on the MSN Money site and are retrieved in Excel using the Stock Data type

The problem appears to be with the Microsoft server delivering the prices to MoneyQuotes

It actually resolves the correct symbol code but does not retrieve any price

Hopefully, just another problem with Microsoft servers which will be resolved shortly ...

Same here - US and Canadian ETFs are having the same issue, but stocks are picked up fine.  May 25th was my last update.

Still not working - looks like the end of the road for Money Quotes - pity as it is the simplest and easiest to use as far as I am concerned

And it seems to be rounding all stock prices to 2 decimal places now - it didn't do this before but had three decimal places for stocks where the tick price was 0.002

ah right looks like US stocks are being updated but not the ones traded on LSE. e.g. EQQQ which is GBP based NASDAQ 100, not updated since 19th May.

On my side, with Gaier MsMoneyQuotes IVV (Nyse ETF), XIU(Tsx ETF), XSP (Tsx ETF), VEA(Nyse Fund), VWO (Nyse Fund) are not updated since May 19th. I do have some canadian funds that are updated (FER series, FER053 as an example). I understand that msmquote (java apps) updates everything. Am I correct ?

If quotes for these tickers are provided by either Yahoo Finance or Google Finance then, yes, you can use msmquote to update them.

Dan Gaier has a new update on the Microsoft Money server issue - see here  Gaier Software - Restore Microsoft Money Online Quotes with MSMoneyQuotes

6/25/2023: I have found out that Microsoft has decommissioned the quote services that power MSMoneyQuotes and the Excel Add-In. They are currently on life support and may completely stop working any day. While some quotes continue to work, many people have noticed things like ETFs are no longer working. They have switched their MSN Money Windows 10/11 app to a new quotes service which uses a totally different format, so it no longer uses the quote services my tools are using. While I'm not a Microsoft employee, I've heard that this area of the company is receiving little attention and there is no team currently truly owning and support the previous quote services. I will begin investigation into if its possible to use the new quote services. But as I said, they use a totally different format. They're no longer using the "Financial Instrument" identifiers that my tools currently use. This will mean a ton of work for me to switch over to the new services. And if I am successful at switching over to the new quote services, it would also mean customers may have some work to do to transition to the new format. Sorry I’m unable to personally respond to the hundreds of emails I’ve received.

Same here - Doomsday has arrived!

Well, maybe not yet - sometimes the server fails to retrieve quotes and then work again the next day

But I fear the worst :-(

New post from Dan Gaier on his website:

" 8/6/2023: I’m in the process of reverse-engineering the new quote service. It’s a time-consuming and tedious process. I’m working on it in my limited spare time on nights and weekends. Currently, I believe I’ll be able to use the new quote service to replace the old one. However, there are some fields that may not be available. I’m starting with the Excel Add-In because it’s written in a much more modern way than MSMoneyQuotes, making it much easier to re-write. MSMoneyQuotes is written in Win32/C++ (so it can interact with MS Money), which is 30+ year old technology, making it a much bigger challenge."

Hello everyone

I am new to this group, having found it when the Gaier Software solution stopped working for me. I've been using Dan's solution for several years and it has worked really well for me.  I'm based in the UK and have a portfolio of directly held stocks and mutual funds.  I've historically used Dan's SymbolMap.csv solution to map the tickers (for stocks) and ISINs (for mutual funds ) that I have in MS Money to the (typically sourced from) Morningstar asset identifiers that Dan's solution needed to fetch last prices for the mutual funds.  The last stock prices that Dan's solution received for me were those from 1 August, and the last mutual fund prices were (mostly) from 31 July.

So, I thought I would try Jonathan Caisot's MSMQUOTE solution.  First I tried the Yahoo Finance API solution, from the command line.  That seems to mostly work okay for the stocks, albeit I had to change some of the tickers in MS Money.  However, it initially wasn't working correctly for mutual funds.  For example, one of the mutual funds that I hold is Baillie Gifford American B Acc (ISIN GB0006061963, Morningstar F0GBR0506U, Yahoo Finance 0P00000VC9).  If the ISIN is in the Symbol field in MS Money (which it was for me), the Yahoo Finance API pulls back a last price for 28 June 2019.  If I replace the ISIN with the Yahoo Finance asset identifier of 0P00000VC9, the API pulls back the latest price.  Which I guess is exactly what you would expect, given that it's a Yahoo Finance API!

But I quite like having the ISIN in the Symbol field in MS Money, because it's such a widely used asset identifier.

So, having already got the ISINs and tickers in my symbolmap.csv file, I thought I would try using that listing in the MSMQUOTE Google Sheets solution to pull back data from Google Finance, my thinking being that I could leave the ISINs in the Symbol field in MS Money and do the mapping in the Google Sheets file.  Again, the Google Sheets solution works well for stocks, but I can't get it to work with the mutual funds.  I can't figure out what asset identifier to use in column A (symbol) of the Google Sheets template.  I've tried the ISIN, Morningstar and Yahoo Finance codes, but they don't seem to work.  When I go into Google Finance (https://www.google.com/finance/) to search for Baillie Gifford American B Acc, I can't find it - I guess that is why the GOOGLEFINANCE function in the Google Sheet can't find it, regardless of which asset identifier I am using?

I'm trying to figure out if it's just the case that Yahoo Finance is good for mutual funds, but Google Finance isn't, hence the only practical solution for me (assuming that Dan can't fix his solution) is to use the MSMQUOTE Yahoo Finance API and have the Yahoo Finance asset identifiers in the Symbol field in MS Money (and then maybe move the ISIN to the Comment field on the More Investment Data, Details page in MS Money)?  And then, should Dan ever get his solution working again, I'd have to change symbolmap.csv so that it now had the relevant Yahoo code in (its) column A rather than the ISIN ones I've been using.

Hope that makes sense.  I guess the question I'm asking is: how do you get the MSMQUOTE Google Sheets solution to work properly with mutual funds like Baillie Gifford American B Acc, because I really like the visibility that the Google Sheets solution offers rather than data being populated straight into MS Money using the Yahoo Finance API?

Thanks

Bill

You could ask Google to add the fund to their list of funds
On the www.google.com/finance/ page there is a Send Feedback option - this might work, who knows

Bill, I think for UK base user, FT quote source probably has best coverage (https://www.ft.com/)

hleofxquotes has support for FT quote source: https://bitbucket.org/hleofxquotesteam/hleofxquotes/downloads/

More good news from Dan

September 7, 2023

I finally have a working version of MSMoneyQuotes that I'm testing now. I will also probably ask a few customers to help test once I'm ready.

That's good to know!  For the first time I've donated to Dan.  MSMoney is how I keep track of investments and banking information all in one place.  At 78 years old I'm too old to learn to code...😀

Further news from Dan
September 14, 2023

Testing is well underway and many good issues have been found and fixed. Things are looking very promising!
One of the problems with Microsoft's new auto-complete, which is used by MSMoneyQuotes to automatically "resolve" symbols, is that it doesn't seem to support ISIN. So I think many customers will have to start using the SymbolMap feature to manually map their MS Money symbols to Instrument IDs.
Also, to help customers update their SymbolMap by replacing "old" Financial Instruments with the "new" Instrument IDs, I've created a new mapping page:
Map a Financial Instrument to an Instrument ID

I tried that tool to map  a financial instrument to an instrument ID. UK fund codes like GB00BJ04F760 for Invesco Perpetual Corporate Bond Y Acc I was previously using which worked in MSMoneyQuotes give the error 'Financial instrument is not found'

Presumably because MSN Money no longer tracks all foreign funds

If you enter Invesco Perpetual Corporate Bond into the search box and select GB, there is a list of 15 or so funds. Could it be one of them?

What a stroke of genius. Entering the text name of the UK fund finds the reference! I tried a few and all worked. Let's hope MSMoneyQuotes is working soon.

The downloads from  Citizens Bank US in all formats qbo qif and ofx will no longer import into ms money plus since they changed their website.  I get an error message saying the file is corrupted or contains invalid data.  I tried the .Csv conversion tool but the field mapping didn't match and I had to delete all of the transactions fortunately i used a copy of my main .mny. file to test it.  I haven't yet called the bank but because Ms money is so old I doubt they will be if any help.

You are supposed to use the Morningstar reference: F00000SVD6 As Gaier wrote:  replacing "old" Financial Instruments with the "new" Instrument ID.
