I posted this in the pocketsense blog also. I had no idea this google group existed and I’m happy to find fellow MS Money enthusiasts

Anyone having issues with E*Trade Brokerage? Since early May, it doesn’t work most of the time.  This all started after I enabled 2FA on etrade.  I have since disabled it.

I’ve tried running pocketsense setup again and it won’t even accept my login credentials now. I’ve opened a ticket with E*Trade, but I’m skeptical of their support for this issue.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  1. First, I don't have Etrade, so only commenting to generate path ideas.
  2. I would enable 2FA as I don't know that I'd have any of my financial accts without 2FA in this day and age.
  3. After that, I would assume you would have to re-link the 3rd party to access your Etrade.
    1. Per online:  logging on to etrade.com, selecting Profile > Security Settings > Manage third-party data sharing.
  4. I'm going off memory, but other sites that did this method...you'd login to the website, tell is you are setting up 3rd party access.  The website would start a timer (~10min) and tell you to use the 3rd party to login and connect.   If successful, they were now linked and you didn't have to do this again.
    1. So, login to Etrade, manage the third party data sharing to Add.   Then try a login thru pocketsense during the 'add time'.
    2. What I'm not sure of is whether you'll have to 'setup' the account in pocketsense again while doing this 'add' on Etrade.

Paul, I was pleased to see  an anonymous post on https://pocketsense.blogspot.com/2025/03/comments-continued.html#comment-form that E*Trade was now working well with PocketSense again.

Cal, in reply to your just-deleted post, I just tried Schwab, and had no success.

Cal:

Unfortunately it still doesn't work for me.  I used to have a 16 character password...changed it to 24 and now changed it back to 16.  Still no luck.

I'm contemplating getting a free 30-day trial of Quicken just so to trouble shoot the issue.  Does anyone know if you can get bank/brokerage settings from within Quicken?  I think something has changed with E*Trade's ofx server, but then others are not having issues with the same settings I'm using.  I'm stumped at this point and really don't want to manually download transactions from e*trade.

Thanks

Robin
