If you rely on your MacBook to play audio files in your business, you may decide that you want to delete its iTunes library. For example, you might use the MacBook to play business-oriented podcasts on topics such as accounting or management principles, or perhaps you just listen to music while processing invoices. Details about these audio files are stored in the library. The iTunes library file is simply a database listing all the audio files you are listening to with iTunes. The library keeps track of how often you play each audio file and the ratings you assign them. If the iTunes library is corrupted, or if you simply want to start over with an empty library containing no ratings or other information, you can easily delete your iTunes library. You can also quickly delete the audio files themselves from your MacBook.

My wife was on me to clean up are music library on the mac over 15,000 songs did some search and fond your website. Your software was amazing it searched my library and found 99% of missing items I was amazed. Wish it was able to group all album songs to one folder but guess I will have to do a little work. I highly recommend give this a try.

This program came in and wrecked utter havoc on my song tags. Everything was pretty good before, but some songs were missing lyrics and some songs were not tagged completely. The program came in and took my songs that were tagged correctly and renamed most of the albums, they didn''t always have the correct album jacket or lyrics, and then it turned my iTunes music folder into a mess of new albums/folders. When I tried to correct the album info, I would have albums broken up into 4 different groupings with all the same tag info, but the groups would not mix together. I deleted this mistake of a program. I''ve been using iTunes for years and I have never seen anything so screwed up. I have since removed and re-added my entire library. It looks like most of it has been corrected, but holy crap, it has taken and it''s going to take me many hours just to get back to what I had before.

I was very skeptical of tidymymusic, but I decided it couldn''t hurt anything to try out the trial. I have a lot of korean music that I downloaded from youtube. I was not expecting this to be able to accurately identify the songs, but it did. I looked each of my ten trial songs up, and everything was spot on, except the genre. It said "world" instead of pop/hip hop/R&B/kpop/etc. But overall, it did an exceptional job.

I did a review for my website. I myself only have a few songs, but others are using it too with lots of songs, and either way, we all love it. Here's the review so you can see how it works: -tidymymusic-review-for-mac/. I wasn't paid or anything. Just reviewing it as we review other software programs, but this one really stood out so I decided to come put it in comments how well it works and how much we all like it. =)

Hey ....i have used this program to clean my music library! I am very very pleased. Thanks! The best program ever for tags. You will make as very happy if you release a version for windows! Thought there may be many people who want the same thing. Keep your good work and make us happy. Thanks.

However, every time I start up the Music.app after this, the old song list information is still there, but obviously, the music files cannot be found since I deleted them. (I get the fist time welcome popups such though.)

Having deleted the tracks on your Mac or PC the music library will either sync automatically with your iOS devices (if you have iCloud Music Library turned on) or you can sync with your iPhone or iPad over Wi-Fi or your USB cable.

1. Back up your library
In case things go wrong, back-up your iTunes library first. Go to "File > Library > Consolidate Library" to copy all data files to your iTunes Music folder. Next, copy the folder to an external drive or another folder on your machine. By default Windows users will find iTunes Music in \Documents and Settings\username\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\iTunes Music

2. Good riddance to bad rubbish
Now delete the music you don't want; a long job if you have to do it manually, but quick if you've been star rating your tunes. Choose "Music" in iTunes Library section, hit CTRL SHIFT + 3 to go to List view and click the "Rating" column twice to order your tunes from least to most liked. Select all your one and two star tunes, then hit CTRL and DELETE.

4. Bulk duplicate removal
If you have a large library, you may need to enlist some software to help you out. For $34.95 Dupe Eliminator scrubs Windows machines clean of duplicate tunes, while Mac users have Dupin for just $15.

5. Remove orphans
Sometimes, deleted files remain listed in your library. We love this ingenious. smart playlist tip from blogger Paul Mayne. Alternatively, use Songbird's The Exorcist plugin to do the deed if you want to download that.

7. Fix metadata
Working with your new back-up, use the freeware tool Picard Tagger to fix any erroneous song titles, album info and other embedded meta data. It connects to the user-generated music database MusicBrainz, analysing tracks by length, title and "acoustic fingerprint". We recommend fixing one album or artist folder at a time and saving over your back-up - but only when Picard Tagger gets it right. Any songs it gets wrong or misses, you'll have to edit the ID3 tags manually when you rebuild your library.

8. Rebuild Your library
This penultimate step will fully rebuild your iTunes library - but do make sure your fixed back-up from the previous step is complete. Here's why: you'll have to shut down iTunes and delete the original old music files in your iTunes Music folder. Next, go up one folder and delete all the iTunes library files. Restart iTunes - go to "File > Add Folder to Library" and locate your clean and tagged back-up. iTunes will import the files and rebuild your library.

Much or most of your iTunes cache may be created by previewing songs, music videos or movie trailers in iTunes Store. Such cache data could take up a lot of storage. You may want to get rid of the data.

1. If you clean up iTunes on Mac, take this step. In Finder, select Go > Library > Caches. Right-click com.apple.iTunes and choose Get Info. Learn your iTunes cache size.

Step 3: Check "iTunes Media Files" and click "Clean".
Step 4: When the clean is done, your iTunes library will be cleared. Open your iTunes, it will automatically create new library.

Step 1: Launch Windows Explorer, click on Music Folder, and then iTunes Folder. You will see two files: iTunes Library.itl and iTunes Music Library.xml.
Step 2: Delete both files from iTunes folder.
Step 3: Restart iTunes, and it will automatically create new library.
