Hello MicroProfile Community Members,

I’m glad to announce that the entire MicroProfile Tutorial content, including all chapters and their respective source code examples, has been successfully merged into the official GitHub repository.

The Official MicroProfile Tutorial GitHub repository:
https://github.com/eclipse/microprofile-tutorial

Thank you for all your support in getting it reviewed, and successfully merged. Your support was invaluable in making this tutorial a comprehensive and developer-friendly resource for the community. The tutorial contains hands-on learning resources for key MicroProfile Specifications including OpenAPI, Config, Health, Fault Tolerance, JWT Authentication, Telemetry, JWT, and REST Client.

For your easy reference here are the important folders:

  • /code - contains source code for all chapters along with README files containing the instruction for using it
  • /modules/ROOT/pages - ASCIIDoc files for the Tutorial content.
  • /build/site - The Tutorial site content HTML format
  • /build/assembler/microprofile-tutorial/6.1/microprofile-tutorial.pdf - The complete tutorial in a downloadable PDF format

Please feel free to share this tutorial within your network and with developers looking to adopt MicroProfile.

If you have further suggestions for improvements or spot anything that needs updating, feel free to raise an issue or PR in the repository. Later this week we will be making the required configuration setting for linking this content on the Official Microprofile Website. Will keep you updated on that.

Thanking you all once again for your support in bringing this project to completion!

Best Regards,
Tarun Telang

A huge thank you, Tarun!  I am starting to review the chapters from a code-first perspective by running it on Quarkus. My first test on chapter 2 worked fine on Quarkus. The only issue is that the pom.xml targets war deployment (which traditional Jakarta EE supports) and Quarkus (and Helidon) support jar deploymet ("java -jar"). This is not something that you need to address, but it is something that vendors will need to consider.

Thank you John for diving in and sharing your observation about WAR deployment support. Glad to hear that you were able to run Chapter 2 code smoothly on Quarkus! Keep sending your insights as you progress through the chapters.

Best Regards,
Tarun

Dear Tarun,

Thank you for bringing your expertise, consistency, and care to this effort. It’s been a pleasure working with you.💫☕🙏

You brought clarity, depth, and professionalism to every step—from attending the diverse MicroProfile calls to collaborating with MicroProfilers via the MP's written forums, PRs, issues  it shows in the MicroProfile technical tutorial.

Your ability to translate open source knowledge into something both practical and accessible is a real gift. This tutorial is not just a resource; it’s a contribution to the global understanding of MicroProfile, and this community is lucky to have had you leading it.

Great work!, Tarun! I am so pleased that MP has now got a tutorial for anyone who wants to learn about MicroProfile. Thank you for the outstanding contributions you have done! John and I briefly discussed about the future of MP tutorials. We will bring up a discussion in the next marketing call to see whether this tutorial can be updated to MP 7.1 with additional funding etc.
Thanks,
Emiiy
