Nice post. I was thinking about that maybe EJB lite should be necessary, besides CDI.

What may be a strange question: in the previous projects I have worked on, we heavily relied on JMS/MDB. Don't you think MDB would be a nice addon to a JEE Micro profile?

I'm a huge JMS/MDB fan, but it does bring in a lot of things, and I suspect what would be wanted would be a subset of JMS (rather than all of it), so I kind of think JMS should not be in a first release. The prevailing view I've seen in the community is that EJB should be sunset in favour of CDI.

Unfortunatelly I haven't heard from the JMS 2.1 EG for ages. But I remember they were planning to incorporate a "MDB model" into JMS through CDI extensions (something like @JMSListener, and any bean could be a JMSListener). If that's the case, because Micro Profile has CDI, it would be easy to add a JMS dependency (like @Transactional is an interceptor binding in CDI). The idea is to leave the Micro Profile "micro" and, with CDI extension, allow to incorporate others specs if needed.
