Hola, beautiful MicroProfilers,

I want to put forward Edwin hold the first year seat.
This is in preparation for next Tuesday's 11-12PDT MPWG Steering committee meeting (public, recorded, welcoming-details to arrive at this forum soon. After today's MP Community call, we have work to do, and we need to start the conversation if we want to start a vote next week. :)

Edwin is an individual whose words and actions match.  To me, that's one of the most beautiful things of choosing to participate and decide to be a healthy contributor in any Open Source ecosystem.
Edwin protects his credibility while collaborating in MicroProfile.  Not once I have seen chew more than he can bear. Edwin promptly requests help, asks questions, delegates,  and provides feedback... Those are just a few of the characteristics necessary for a Committer to ensure that the MPWG Steering body is properly set to protect the MP committers' voice.

True, a Proxy vote is not possible under the EF WG. Yet, I still MP community can set a process making sure that when there is a vote in the Steering Committee, that 1 committer person speaks (well- informed means gathered community feedback) step away beyond the self to speak on behalf of an important body of committers.

Edwin-- you can say NO. None can push you to own responsibilities, accept for the sake of saving face this nomination.

This is my direct thank you to YOU for being as wonderful and inspiring as you are!

Amelia,
You are more than welcome to nominate Edwin as a candidate for the elected Committer Rep.  Your write-up was a fine testament of Edwin's contributions.  If Edwin accepts this nomination, then we can include him on the ballot.  Thank you!

But, nobody on the MicroProfile Working Group can assign someone to this elected Committer Rep slot.  After the nomination period closes, then a vote will be initiated using the existing EF process.

Thanks!
Kevin

Hola Kevin,

Correct.
Anyone in MicroProfile can nominate someone (or yourself) he/she would like to see run for the seat of committer Representative. That person must be an MP committer, and to nominate him/her you don't need to be a MP committer. Contributor voices are everything to this ecosystem as you are the future committers.  If you contribute to MP, it is your job to voice your wishes to the representative to protect you. :)

If there are no other nominations by Tuesday, the voting won't start on the 20th. The idea is that everyone understands what the task is & why it matters.

I believe 1 committer from the 9 not affiliated with Members is ideal.
However, there are no rules that exclude committers who are employed by Members. I think we as a community need to limit the scope of requirements for nominees in the future as we learn from the activity. BUT this is my logic and without discussion and careful consideration with actual facts, it is just that, a thought.

Let's stay in the course and focus on MP 4.0! :)

I think we need to talk about the nomination on today's call. Is self nomination an option as well? Ideally there should be at least a handful nomination to kick off the voting. I might have missed the info on how many comitter we would like to elect. I think in the past Paul White commented on the MPWG by asking us how many committer rep we want. I don't think we decided on a number then.
Thanks,
Emily

+1 Emily.
The vote won't start today b/c thus far, only Edwin has accepted the nomination, and there is paperwork that still needs to be completed by many other independent committers.

That aside, we have to set up the minimal requirements to at least start the process. :) This needs to be decided by the MP Community, not the Steering Committee.

The steering committee must lower to the bare minimum the "decisions" it chooses to make to make sure that the MP Community is the one leading the project. A true committee body understands when not to own a task, even and especially when it could. It gets so bothersome to see much weakness on the lack of courage to delete & to step aside and lead others to lead. MicroProfile is so much fun to be a part of because those involve keeping a close self-inventory of their own actions and how they relate to the long term and the community.

See many of you beautiful MicroProfilers in 6 mins :)
