Just a heads up to say the Jenkins build is broken due to Certificates expired on build cluster - affects all builds and JIPPs. If you are doing any RC or micro releases, monitor this bugzilla for the latest news.

Thanks
Emily

Maybe we should discuss a move to GH Actions?

We are already using them in MP Config, to report build failures in PR’s. We could add some actions to do the release as well.

This does require some further discussion. I’m happy to provide some more information if there is interest in this.

Cheers,
Roberto

I think adopting GH Actions for PR merging is great based on the experience on MP Config. Thank you Roberto!

As for the release, I think one great benefit with Eclipse CI is that there is a central repository to store all of the downables, so that all specs can be viewed online and persisted. Does GH Action offer the similar feature?

Thanks
Emily

They can be added as binaries to the ML Release.

But there are not that many limits as long as you can script stuff. A GH action can be configured to push the binaries to the Eclipse Repository as well.

Actually, the whole release job in Jenkins is mainly one groovy script so moving to GH actions should be possible. However, isn't the free time on GH actions bound to the user account? Shouldn't we then discuss this with Eclipse first?

Not sure how realiable of GH Actions. To be fair, Jenkins CI is pretty realiable and actively maintained by Eclipse Foundation. At least, someone will fix the problem. I am not sure whether we can get the same luxury with GH Actions. However, we can set it up as a backup if it is easy to do.

Thanks
Emily
