Haven’t seen this discussed yet but in previous years we have tried to collaborate on submissions to JavaOne to ensure a good showing of what we’re doing as a community. Given the advent of Jakarta EE (I’ll kick off a similar conversation over there soon), I think MicroProfile presence at Code One remains really important and we should try to ensure that we have a good, broad community presence there.

Depends what the BoF is about - if it’s about the status, what brought us here etc. then unlikely to be massively interesting these days just judging by the panel sessions we’ve done at some conferences in the past. If it’s about code, specs and that level of detail then I think it could be far more successful.

It might touch briefly on the former, but more about what we have now in terms of specs, what's in the works, what the future might hold for new specs.

Is anyone interested in being part of it? If not, that's fine, just won't propose it.

There's a doc which Ken/Emily shared (can't recall which one). Add
names there but I believe the deadline for the actual submissions was
yesterday so adding more people will have to wait until we know
whether sessions are accepted.

All,

Had an email regarding CFP today stating that BoFs are only allowed 3 speakers during submission phase, so I've had to remove some names to get us down from 5.

I'm hoping this is only temporary during submission, or we flout the rules and get extra people up on stage on the day.

Just to clarify IBM's participation...  We will be participating at both Oracle Code One (JavaOne) and EclipseCon Europe.  We are planning to submit similar papers for both conferences.  Depending on how the accepts go, we will then decide who is going to which conference...  So, any of these BOFs or Panels, please feel free to include IBM (me, Emily, anybody) and we'll cover regardless.  It just may not be who you put on the submission...  :-)

I believe Ivar (not very surprising) had a talk about MP accepted there.

What is a bit more worrysome, if he or others even proposed anything, that JSRs like the MVC one seem almost irrelevant to OC1.
So the name change was not the only thing that shifted ;-/

I got a talk called "Microservice Patterns - implemented by Eclipse MicroProfile" accepted.
But note that this was only the first batch of notifications. There will be more coming out this week if I understood it correctly

Let's wait to see what happens in the final picture. My understanding is that things are not going to be completely final until about a couple of weeks (including BoFs, etc).

I got accepted with a talk "Be reactive and micro with a MicroProfile stack". I proposed other talks, no decline letters yet.

I also saw that Kevin Sutter was accepted too with a talk about the relationship between MicroProfile and Jakarta EE.

So I take it especially the Individuals among you will have a hard time talking at EclipseCon Europe this year ?;-)
The Condorde, Phil Collins once used to perform on both sides of the Atlantic no longer flies, so unless you only had talks on one single day of OC1 and at a different part of the week ECE, it seems almost impossible to do both.

My MP Metrics talk was accepted by JCON: http://jcon.one/en/
As were a few others, at least Rudy and Emily I recall. 

What about ECE, who proposed talks there already? Or plans to do, especially for corporate members it should be possible to have more than one speaker ;-)

I have submitted at talk to OSGiCE (co-located with ECE) about Eclipse MicroProfile.

Great to know there are a few acceptances (Ivar, Kevin and Ondro) on MicroProfile talks at Code One. As Reza said there might be more to come, let's wait and see.  Werner, you were right that we have to choose either ECE or Code One. It will be very difficult to attend both. Will see you at JCon first. Ray, great to know that you plan to talk to MicroProfile at OSGi CE.

That's interesting. I know, some features/bundles are exposed in the META-INF, but honestly I have not tried to consume them e.g. from an Eclipse plugin or other OSGi container.

It's quite weird this year because
  • Oracle Code One (formerly JavaOne)
  • EclipseCon Europe (the biggest one by Eclipse Foundation anywhere in the world)
  • Open Source Summit Europe by Linux Foundation
All take place in the same week and most of it overlapping ;-O

I will focus on Europe/Germany this year and even slightly before ECE I give two Jakarta EE / MicroProfile related talks at JCON 2018.
Oracle and Eclipse Foundation are gold sponsors and Payara should also be involved probably with a booth AFAIK.
