Hi,
As part of the EE4J efforts, I once again asked the Oracle reps for their support of the MicroProfile efforts. Specifically, I asked about the use of the Oracle logo on our MicroProfile web site. Here was their response:
"We're OK with MicroProfile using the Oracle logo in the context of eventually merging MicroProfile efforts with EE4J efforts.
To be clear, we do not have a short-term intent to contribute to specific MicroProfile projects because of our focus on migrating Java EE. If we get asked about this, that is how we would respond. We'd like to make sure the MicroProfile team is OK with this level of endorsement, and thinks it will be helpful, before using the Oracle logo."
I have tentatively told Will that we would be interested, even in this limited capacity. I think it would help demonstrate the eventual synergy between MicroProfile and EE4J. I have asked Will for the next set of contacts at Oracle to make this happen. And, I said I would post this request to our marketing team to see if there were any concerns with this. Since Oracle is already an Eclipse Foundation member, listing them on our web site should be fine with Eclipse. (As a reminder, the Eclipse Foundation was originally concerned about us listing companies on our MP web site that were not members. I have since put Mike (Eclipse Foundation president) in touch with these companies and that issue is being worked.)
I can't think of any drawbacks to this. Anything from the wider community?
Thanks, Kevin
