The design is a bit on the expensive side due to the non-standard
crystals. However, the use of the LAN8720 PHY reduces overall cost
compared to other boards with more well-known PHYs as it creates its
own clock and does not need an oscillator or secondary power supply,
just a crystal.
I am considering redoing the board with standard crystals but the
design will be more complicated, larger, and I sort of already got
what I wanted from this project. I am using the board as a platform
to design and prototype other projects.
If you are interested in DIY'ing your own LPC17xx board, look over
my LPC176x-Development-Board design:
http://code.google.com/p/opendous/source/browse/trunk/Abandoned_Designs/LPC176x-Development-Board/
It is "Abandoned Hardware" as I found the LPC175x more useful but
the design is 8mil-8mil-20mil_vias so you can cheaply source a PCB.
One question, I saw the JTAG board, when is the next one going to be out? I was going to try to connect my ARM key to the microchip part (PIC32)and swap some pins around... just wondering if you might sell one of those?
Well... let me ponder some more... I'm jsut swapped, right now.. seems that when I get started on a project then everyone wants something else....
