Limousine-Overview

This new model gives another meaning to LSA:
Limousine Sport Aircraft

There is a lot of information about the Limousine S-LSA contained in this section, including specifications, descriptions, press articles, videos etc. So, to navigate into this section don’t hesitate to refer to the index of the section

For its launch, the Limousine S-LSA is offered at

127,728 Euros +GST/VAT ex factory

until the 31 December 2010

This performance could be achieved thanks to the use of a full carbon fibre airframe allowing for the very light empty weight of the Limousine S-LSA. The aircraft can carry up to 150% of its own empty weight!

1°) Introduction

MCR 4 Seater + Twin-R = Limousine

The Limousine S-LSA is an interbreeding of the MCR-4S and the Twin-R, but designed to fit the LSA category. The airframe is based on the best seller MCR-4S, the most economical and fun to fly 4 seater on the market, with over 140 units sold. The MCR-4S has been designed to fly at 132 Kts on a Rotax 912S 100hp with a 1500Nm range. The cabin is finished with the interior that was recently developed for the Twin engine “Twin-R” launched at Friedrichshafen 2010, and exclusively adapted to the S-LSA Limousine. It includes the new memory foam seats for incomparable comfort.

Big and light weight

The Limousine S-LSA features a monocoque fuselage and fin, made of carbon reinforced skin. Thanks to the use of carbon fibre for all the construction, including parts such as the seats, rods, spars, flight controls and wheel fairings, the Limousine S-LSA offers a whopping 320Kg useful load. In the meantime, as it is based on a four seater airframe designed around a roomy cockpit of 1.20m width at the rear seats, build to allow four people up to 1,95m tall to be easily seated in the airplane, the Limousine S-LSA is the biggest S-LSA on the market, offering a cabin volume of 2,000 litres, a wing span of 8.72 m (28.6ft), a length of 6.70m (22 ft) and a height of 1.90m (6.3 ft).

Carbon fibre

The lightweight allows for greater payload, lower fuel consumption per nautical mile or airspeed knot. For commercial operation this translates into cold hard cash on the bottom line, and the latest Boeing and Airbus have made the case for intensive use of carbon fibre. But the intensive use of carbon fibre offers even more benefits and cost savings opportunities. The moulding capability allows for more sophisticated design that translates into better performance when applied to wing and control surfaces, less drag and better use of space when applied to the airframe and cockpit, and again weight saving as carbon fibre can be used for many parts of the aircraft, in the case of the MCR range carbon fibre is everywhere, it is even used for the control rods and sticks, seats and instrument panel. Because it doesn’t corrode the aircraft ages slower resulting in the aircraft retaining its value and having a much lower depreciation rate than anything else on the market. It also saves a lot in maintenance as the years go by. For example as it doesn’t corrode, the paint can’t be affected by corrosion underneath, it is quite surprising to see that a 10 year old MCR looks like new as the paint is still glossy and one colour. And of course knowing the cost of repainting an aircraft, that’s a lot of money saved down the line, or in case of the aircraft sold as it on the second hand market that’s a lot of money retained on the aircraft’s value.

The wing makes up the personality

The Limousine S-LSA is the plane that will take you quickly to any place you want to reach. The cutting edge wing design, incorporating double slotted flaps, short chord, large ailerons and wind tunnel tested wingtips give an unmatched speed range. The specially designed double slotted flaps will ensure a very good degree of stability at the low end of the speed envelope and in the “Full Flap” position are very effective at steepening the descent without any airspeed increase or forced forward slip. The wing tips have been designed and tunnel tested in collaboration with the French Aerospace Research Agency (ONERA) to reduce induced drag to a minimum. The engine cowling is designed to minimize cooling drag and the landing gear comes with slippery wheel fairings. This cutting-edge 8.72m span wing has an aerobatic-type carbon wing spar, tested to 10G, foam ribs and a carbon skin. This wing offers an impressive 34 Kts stall speed and 128 Kts cruise speed.

The S-LSA regulation limits the MTOW to 600Kg, however the Limousine S-LSA was designed with a 750 Kg structural MTOW as it has the wing of the MCR 4 seater. This is a great benefit in terms of Safety margin and ageing. Additionally, should this S-LSA become eligible for the experimental category or new category for whatever reason, it would then benefit from the 750 Kg MTOW.

Freedom

The robust fixed Oil-Pneumatic landing gear, shimmy-damper and large front wheel can handle the rigors of short field grass runways while the steering nose wheel and 2.33m (7.6 ft) landing gear track offer excellent stability and manoeuvrability.
The long range tanks can carry 200L (52 US Gal) of fuel, either Avgas or Mogas. That’s enough to reach any remote field without having to worry about refuelling. The Rotax 912S 100hp can use either Avgas or Mogas, which not only provides a welcome flexibility when it comes to refuelling, but it also future proofs the engine with regard to the coming changes to unleaded Avgas.

3°) Video-The MCR 4S

The Limousine S-LSA is nothing less than the MCR-4S certified under the S-LSA category: 2 seater factory built in compliance with ASTM standards, packed with options coming standards and the interior designed for the Twin-R. In other words, it is a MCR-4S factory built and limited to 2 occupants whereas the 4S comes as a kit. As it is a new product we don’t have yet a video specifically for this model, however the video for the 4S will give a perfect idea of what is the Limousine in flight.
This video is the part about the MCR-4S, of the film dyn.aircraft flying the MCR available on a free DVD in French or English. The video starts at 14', which is the beginning of the chapter about the MCR-4S. Thanks to our Motionmaker status, you can watch this video in high resolution full screen.

5°) Tiered payment

Payment is made in four installments of 25%:

1. First Payment: Deposit. This deposit of 31,932 Euros will secure your slot in the production line, and construction will begin as soon as possible.
2. Second Payment: 2 months after the construction has started, a second payment of 39,932 Euros will be required. The construction starts with: the ailerons, the flaps, horizontal stabilizer, rudder and the initial fuselage structure.
3. Third Payment: Just before the end of the construction of the control surfaces and initial fuselage structure, a third payment of 39,932 Euros will be required. The next stage of construction will include all mechanical components, fuselage equipment, Pre-assembly of wing and main landing gear.
4. Fourth and last payment: The last payment of 31,932 Euros shall be made before delivery. It will be required just after the second stage of the construction is completed and while engine and instruments are installed.

  • This tiered payment scheme offers a great flexibility for your purchase. If for any reason you can’t make one payment on time, it won’t jeopardize your project: your slot is allocated to the next customer, who will therefore receive his aircraft sooner, while it gives you additional time to complete the payment.
  • Lead time from deposit to delivery is currently approximately 6 months.
  • Draft of an aircraft syndicate agreement is available on request.
  • If you intend to operate this aircraft within a syndicate or a club, ask us about the Safetyplane System
