Field Day is being held on the longest day(s) of the year.
Those days often correspond to extremely high or low tides so I thought I better check them if we plan on setting up on the beach.

FRIDAY 6/21 Sunrise is 5:12 AM, and Sunset is 9:13 PM. Because this is the longest day of the year it will actually be light from about 4:30 AM to about 10:00 PM
Low tide is at 3:55 AM / 7.12 feet
High tide is at 8:19 AM / 11.09 feet
Low tide is at 3:10 PM / -0.92 feet
High tide is at 10:32 PM / 14.63 feet THIS IS CAUSE FOR CONCERN.

SATURDAY 6/22 Sunrise is 5:12 AM, and Sunset is 9:13 PM. Because this is the longest day of the year it will actually be light from about 4:30 AM to about 10:00 PM
Low tide is at 4:47 AM / 6.76 feet
High tide is at 9:04 AM / 10.37 feet
Low tide is at 3:51 PM / -.03 feet
High tide is at 11:09 PM / 14:47 feet THIS IS CAUSE FOR CONCERN.

SUNDAY 6/23 Sunrise is 5:11 AM, and Sunset is 9:13 PM. Because this is the 2nd longest day of the year it will actually be light from about 4:30 AM to about 10:00 PM
Low tide is at 5:42 AM / 6.23 feet
High tide is at 10:02 AM / 9.65 feet
Low tide is at 4:35 PM / 1.05 feet
High tide is at 11:48 PM / 14.27 feet THIS IS CAUSE FOR CONCERN

HIGH TIDES OF 14 FEET OR MORE MAY (I'M NOT SURE) COVER ALL OF THE BEACH.
The first time we will be able to tell for sure will be Friday night at 10:32 PM.
I will go down Thursday when will be a 14.75 foot high tide at 9:57 PM.
That will tell me how much beach we will have to work with Friday and Saturday.
If setting up on the beach is going to be a problem we can setup a few feet away on our boat ramp instead.

Dennis, That's excellent that you checked that!

The good news is that it looks like Thursday is the highest of all.  Assuming the predictions are close (and as a boater, I know the tide tables are a guess, not a fact) then we'll be fine Saturday night as it would be a couple inches lower than Thursday night.

If it's not too dark, it might be helpful to take a photo, particularly one that includes obvious reference marks.  That would make it easier to know where the risk zone is for setup down there.

I do kinda like the idea of setting up over the saltwater, but that presents challenges all their own as well.

While I don't consider it certain that we'd make use of that location (mostly because I would imagine that supporting wire horizontal antennas (dipoles and end fed wires) would be very challenging there, I did mention to Scott that I could see the possibility of emulating what Mike and Key does and set up a CW station with a vertical over salt water.  Actually what I said was we should get Mike excited about it and have him set up a CW station there and he'd be happy all weekend. :-)  I'd be willing to put up with the fuss and additional complication of a 2A site for something like that.
