Hi Devs

Just reply in this thread with patches that need to go in
after testing this weekend

* Remember to ensure your patches apply cleanly on top of the
previously posted patches
* Don't make a patchset, (so that users can easily test 1 single patch easily)
* Remember to attach all previous patches from other developers with
your patch, number them sequentially.

The patches received till date are attached , so base your patches
on top on this as well

Hi David,

Great! All three patches MUST be applied to get 628f working!

Regarding audio: Audio is not controlled by Microdia driver so mplayer
can't get audio stream from "device=/dev/video0"!

One simple way to test webcam mic is to use Skype! In Skype,
you can select "USB20 Webcam ..." as audio input and then try making calls
to user "echo123" or better "videoecho123". Using later you can
test both audio and video of your webcam.

Well there is a minor issue:
the first four patch lack a signed-off line.

I attach a fixed version of my patch.

Some testing results.
Got latest git, applied all 7 patches, compiled without error
but it seems not to work properly with my 0c45:6270 webcam.
Tested mplayer, skype and eskiga, all produce no image, attaching

I'm sorry to bother again, it seems I'm really dumb I did not check this
in first place, there is actually an image when using mplayer, just
initial contrast and exposure values were 0, changed them using v4l2ucp
and now I get an image, same as Kuzja posted here.

Sorry all over the place.

Like Jojo said the problem is that both the 6288 and 6270 haven't had
thier start streams modified to avoid changing and overwriting the
proper scaling values. Attached are two patches to fix that for both

Hi,

Just tested with two latest patches, now I get clear image in both
skype and ekiga, thanks for quick fix. Initial value for exposure is 0
so I have to change it manually with v4l2ucp when I plug in camera,
but that's really minor.

Thanks again.

Hi again,

Unfortunately, it doesn't work for me. Moreover, the latest driver
from git doesn't even detect the device. Though i was you using the
latest driver to check previous patches just a day ago and everything
was fine.

any indication/changes in dmesg output since last time?
which patch broke support ? you can apply patches one-by-one

I have absolutely no idea. Yesterday I downloaded latest version using
git, applied patches and everything (except for skype and ekiga) was
working flawlessly, today I download the driver again and it doesn't
work. Even if I don't apply any patches my device is not detected. I
have a copy of an earlier version and it works fine.

Anyone who doesn't want these patches please speak up until October 14th
UTC 15:00.

We really should find some way to handle this differently - I don't like
deadlining everybody.

I don't know if this is going to post in the right place or not. I
can't figure out this forum.
Since upgrading to Ubuntu 8.10, my microdia webcam has stopped
working. I have the microdia repository for intrepid installed and it
claims the driver is up to date, but I have nothing at all. It used
to work quite well in 8.04.1.

The forum says my post is successful, but I have no idea where it
went. I don't see it anywhere. This is very frustrating. The work
this group is doing is fantastic, and I would like to contribute, but
can't because of this crazy forum software.
