Why You SHOULD Fear 'Slaughterbots' — A Response

In late December, we published a guest post by a former head of the U.S. Defense Department working group that set the DoD’s policy on autonomous weapons. He took issue with a viral video that sounds the alarm about the potential of weaponized autonomous drones to commit mass murder. He insisted that the “Slaughterbots” video blows a known problem out of proportion. Of course, now there’s pushback; the scientists behind the video have responded to Scharre’s arguments, noting why they continue to believe that drones can become scalable weapons of mass destruction.
