Mesh - How is it computed?

Can anyone help me in understanding how does it work the function model2mesh?

Does it take in input the cell contour computed with the bwtraceboundary.m matlab function and it is splitting it into one left and right contour?

How it is finding the two cell poles?

Do the two left and right mesh have the same number of points? How does it compute the mesh?
