Hello,

I am hoping for some direction. I had a social worker call me from a hospital in Macomb County. She is at a loss on how to help this family, any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!!

From the Social Worker:

I have this patient, and I am stuck with what to do to help her.  She is 61 and has Cerebral Palsy and is Developmentally Disabled.  Her sister has been trying to do stuff for her but is kind of stuck.  Her Parents were ones always taking care of stuff for her, but they have both passed.

Her sister said she recently had her Medicaid cut because her income is $1,400 and the cutoff is $1,200.  She does have a spend down.  But when they cut her Medicaid, she lost all of her services, including meal delivery, bridge card, services on the home, etc.

Do you have any suggestions for her?  Her poor sister is also caring for her mother-in-law who has Lewy Body Dementia and she does not live close to the patient. She is so sweet and appreciative of everything. Please let me know if you have any suggestions or recommendations for the sister, thanks

Warm regards,
