Healthy Food Connect
The Community Foundation for Southeast Michigan is launching Healthy Food Connect, a new regional initiative designed to increase access to healthy food for children and seniors in the seven counties of southeast Michigan: Wayne, Oakland, Macomb, Monroe, Washtenaw, Livingston, and St. Clair. The Community Foundation has partnered with Michigan State University Center for Regional Food Systems and Fair Food Network on the design and implementation of this initiative, which is funded by the Community Foundation and the Michigan Health Endowment Fund.
This kickoff event will introduce and launch the $2.7 million initiative to potential grantees.
The objectives of the event are:
1) Share models of what has worked in the region and across the country.
2) Highlight ways to increase healthy food access across the region for seniors and youth.
3) Describe Healthy Food Connect and its grantmaking guidelines to prospective applicants, including the initiative’s focus on innovative partnerships and collaborations.
Due to space limitations, registration for this event is first come, first served. Each attendee must register separately. Attendance at the kickoff is not a requirement for submission of an application to Healthy Food Connect.
