IN FOCUS  

Central Asian countries publish national reports on Education for All assessment: More effort needed in education financing

Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan have published their national Education for All (EFA) Mid-Decade Assessment (MDA) Reports. 

National reports of all four countries were reviewed by education specialists from the region at the Central Asia EFA Mid-Term Policy Review on 10 December 2008. 

The national EFA MDA report takes stock of progresss made in each of the six EFA Goals, a commitment reaffirmed by 164 countries at the 2000 World Education Forum in Dakar. Read more

Inter-Agency on Education Simulation Models  - A portal initiated by the Task Team on Education Simulation Models (TTESM) and housed at UNESCO. It aims to facilitate the exchange of experiences and relevant expertise in the field of education simulation models (ESM).

Users have access to current education data for policy making and programme management, and a range of tools and materials including graphs, charts and education pyramids.

Transforming Policy and Practice for Gender in Education - A Gender Review of UNESCO's 2009 EFA Global Monitoring Report - The United Nations Girls' Education Initiative (UNGEI) report critiques the 2009 Global Monitoring Report, emphasizing the need for gender analysis when viewing progress made toward EFA. The critique finds that the issue of gender has not been thoroughly covered by the report. UNGEI Website
