On Monday, April 8, most of North America will have the chance to see the Moon pass in front of the Sun during a solar eclipse. NASA is inviting the public to participate with in-person events, opportunities to do NASA science, and multiple ways to watch online.

Common beliefs and traditions associated with Chandra Grahan (lunar eclipse) in India include various practices deeply rooted in cultural beliefs and superstitions. Some of the common beliefs and traditions are:

The Chandra Grahan (lunar eclipse) in 2024 will occur on March 25, 2024. Unfortunately, this eclipse will not be visible from India as it will take place during daytime hours when the Moon is below the horizon. To watch the lunar eclipse online in 2024, you can explore live streams or broadcasts from countries where the eclipse will be visible, such as the United States, England, Spain, Belgium, Russia, France, Ireland, Italy, South Norway, the Netherlands, Japan, Switzerland, Portugal, and Germany.

Total solar eclipse 2024 is scheduled for today, April 8. During the rare celestial event, the sun will briefly get covered by the moon, creating a complete darkness momentarily in several countries. While you may not be able to see it directly, there is an option to watch it live as it happens, online. As the total solar eclipse approaches, Google has also introduced a special animation for those searching for it on the internet.

Reportedly about 32 million people across 15 states in the United States can watch the eclipse which will be visible to them before moving to Canada within 30 minutes. The path of totality of the solar eclipse is 185 kilometers. An additional 150 million living less than 200 miles from the strip can also see the celestial event. Furthermore, people living far away can also get a view of a partial eclipse, or keep a track of the webcast initiated by NASA, the US space agency.

During the total solar eclipse experts have advised many schools situated in the path of the solar eclipse to keep closed or letting students out early. Many airlines are expected to have created advertisements for flights scheduled to pass under the eclipse. Furthermore, Delta has also planned two special trips along the path of totality.

The first solar eclipse (surya grahan) of 2020 will be gracing the skies on June 21 i.e. tomorrow. Instead of a more majestic total solar eclipse, it is going to be an annular solar eclipse that will appear as a "ring of fire" in the sky. This phenomenon will be visible from India, other parts of Asia, Africa, Europe, and Australia. The partial solar eclipse will begin at 9:15am IST tomorrow, and it will attain its maximum form of an annular eclipse at 12:10pm IST. Read on for more information on solar eclipse 2020, where it will be visible, and and how to watch it live online.

To put it simply, a solar eclipse occurs when the Moon comes between the Earth and the Sun. During an annular solar eclipse, the Moon is farthest from Earth, with its apparent diameter at that distance not enough to completely block the Sun. Instead, it blocks much of Sun and places its antumbra shadow on the Earth, leaving a circle of brightness. During this phase of the solar eclipse, an annular shape (ring-shape) is formed around the Moon, hence people on Earth can see a "ring of fire" being formed in the sky.

This is unlike the total solar eclipse in which the Moon comes between the Sun and Earth and shows the darkest part of its shadow (umbra) on our planet. The total eclipse is often almost as dark as night, while you'll notice some amount of light in the case of the annular solar eclipse.

According to TimeandDate.com, the annular phase of the upcoming solar eclipse will be visible from parts of Africa including the Central African Republic, Congo, and Ethiopia; south of Pakistan and northern India, as well as China.

If you're residing in one of the locations where the annular solar eclipse will be visible on June 21, you can go out to experience the ring of fire effect with your own eyes. It is important to take eye protection into consideration while watching the eclipse live. Space enthusiasts can also watch the event live online. Popular channels such as TimeandDate and Slooh will be streaming it live on their YouTube. You can also follow the path of the eclipse using the NASA tracker.

Solar Eclipse 2022: Today, April 30, marks the first solar eclipse, or surya grahan, of the year. Although it is a partial eclipse, meaning the entire solar disk will not be covered by the moon, it is still a huge global event because multiple regions and countries of the world will get to experience it first-hand. But sadly, India is not one of those countries that will get to experience the surya grahan through the naked eye. So, if you live in India, the sun will shine brightly for you today. However, if you are an astronomy enthusiast and want to spectate this incredibly rare event, there is one way to do so. Read on to find out how to watch the solar eclipse online. Do not miss it.

The partial eclipse of April 30 is a worldwide phenomenon but its visibility is limited to a few regions. These include the Antarctica land-mass region, south and southwest region of South America (Chile, Argentina, Peru, Ecuador, Colombia, Bolivia and parts of Brazil) as well as regions in Pacific and Atlantic ocean (USA, southwestern regions of Europe, and western parts of Africa). But this is not the only major event India is set to miss out on. On May 16, a total lunar eclipse will also take place which will not be visible from India.

A solar eclipse is an astronomical phenomenon which occurs on a new Moon day. New Moon is essentially when the Sun and the Moon are aligned with the Moon in between the Sun and the Earth. As the lunar disk covers the view of the Sun, the Earth experiences a brief darkness during the daytime and is known as a solar eclipse.

The next solar eclipse of the year will take place on October 25. Luckily, this will be visible in India and Indian citizens will get to witness this astronomical rarity happening with their eyes. Although, it is recommended to never look at a solar eclipse with naked eyes as it can damage them.

If you want a close up telescopic view of the solar eclipse, NASA will be broadcasting the event on its official channel. The video is not scheduled right now but it should appear in a few hours. Keep an eye out for that.

Solar Eclipse 2023: The first solar eclipse of 2023 falls on April 20, and will be a hybrid solar eclipse. The solar eclipse will sweep only through Australia and some nations of Southeast Asia. While the hybrid solar eclipse will not be visible in India, people in the country can watch the rare spectacle online.

A hybrid solar eclipse is also known as an annular-total eclipse, because it can change from an annular to a total eclipse, or from a total to an annular eclipse, along the observer's parth. When the Moon comes between the Sun and Earth, and casts the darkest part of its shadow, called the umbra, on Earth, it is called a total solar eclipse. When the edge of the Sun remains visible as a bright ring around the Moon during an eclipse, it is called an annular solar eclipse.

People living in the countries where the solar eclipse will not be visible can watch the astronomical event online. They can enjoy the spectacle on the official YouTube channel of timeanddate.com. The event will be streamed live in collaboration with Perth Observatory, Australia.

The curvature of the Earth increases the distance between the Moon and all observers at either end of the narrow path of totality. To those observers, the Moon will appear too small to cover the Sun completely. Therefore, the eclipse will appear to be annular to those observers. In other words, the Sun will appear to form a ring around the Moon.
