Wetlands Program Part 3: What you can do

There is still time for those who want strong wetland protection in
Michigan to have their voice heard.

Call your legislators and tell them that a funding source has been
identified for the wetlands program by Senator Birkholz in Senate Bill
785. There is a committee hearing today on SB 785, yet no money has
been reinstated for the wetlands program in the budget. SB 785
identifies a funding source for the wetland program (good) but reforms
the state wetland law for Farm Bureau and the Chamber of Commerce (not
so good). Tell your legislator to approve use of the money to save
the program but don’t weaken wetland protection.
