If there is one vote which has the most significance for us Muslims, it is going to be our vote in this primary election on Tuesday, August 2^nd. If you have an absentee ballot please fill it out and mail it in or drop it at the address given in the envelope. You can also physically go and vote on Tuesday. 

 

Andy Levin is running against Haley Stevens for Congressional 11^th district (which covers Troy, Farmington, Farmington Hills, Auburn Hills, Pontiac, and all of the Bloomfield Hills area). You can find a lot more about this race here. 

 

Andy is a champion of human rights here and abroad. He regularly speaks out for the rights of Palestinians, Kashmiris, Uyghurs, minorities in India, and others oppressed communities all over the world. Andy is endorsed by Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren.  He is also endorsed by Emgage, a Muslim political advocacy group.

 

Andy Levin has always spoken truth to power, no matter the consequences.  He was the first and only congress person to write about Kashmir when the Modi government took away its status as a State in India and put it under an extended lockdown.  He has given several testimonies supporting Muslims and other minorities in India which are under assault from Modi’s Hindutva government.  He has spoken out for the rights of Palestinians, and he is unafraid to pay the price.  He is opposed by AIPAC which has spent millions of dollars in trying to defeat him in this primary.  Whoever wins this primary would win the general election, as the 11^th district is heavily Democratic. 

 

I sincerely request that you, your family, and your friends do your part in voting for him in this primary.  Please forward this message to others who are eligible to vote in this primary.

   

There are not many Andy’s out there. Actually, I would venture to say there is nobody else in Congress who is this articulate and passionate about human rights all over the globe. 

 

This is the least we can do. Please use your right to vote to affect important and meaningful change both here and abroad.
