hello everyone

Sorry i missed the call today, in my calendar i had it for 1 pm.

A few ideas i wanted to throw on the table were
  • I am not sure if a theme has been chosen for next year, i apologize if it has. I would like to throw out a theme based around "Indigenous Self Reliance", focus on building/enhancing our communities capacity to address issues as they relate to MIEC objectives
  • Some speakers that might fit the bill for keynote are Michale Yellowbird-does great work on decolonize and working with communities. Another speaker, Taiaiake Alfred, mohawk guy, he has done a lot of grass roots organizing with communities, as well as work around Indigenous policy and governance.

  • Quarterly or semi annual small events-workshop, seminar, community based activity that empower MIEC mission and helps to build towards the annual conference, for example-Youth Engagement workshops, Indigenous parenting workshops, Historical Trauma and Lateral violence workshops,  Community visioning seminars. There could be the possibility of providing CEU through these as well.

Sorry again for missing the call.

I am attaching my resume' so everyone can get some idea on my background

look forward to working with everyone

Please let me know if you have any questions

Thanks - Emily
