So...Whaddawe gonna talk about now? Allow me to suggest. I'd like to
invite you all to join me in bidding adieu to my hot water heater,
which also happens to be the heat source for my house. In it's
defense, it did hold out until the temperature lowered to 40. So, in
honor of this occasion, I thought we might initiate a competition, of
sorts. The BIG question is, How many Lagunas does it take to replace
my boiler? You will, of course, take into account Luan vs. okoume,
stainless vs. galvanized, epoxy as opposed to gummy spit etc. Winner
to perhaps get a hot shower at my place should they happen to show up.
Good fortune to all and consider; heat is over rated.

Ed,

I'll play your game. :-)

I'm currently at $900, to get the hull completed and glassed on the
bottom. I'd love to say that I can keep it under $1k but I know that
wont happen. Still need the wood for spars & boards. And the biggest
outstanding expense will likely be getting chandlery from Duckworks.
(It seems cheap till you realize you need +10 blocks, +100 ft line,
etc.) Don't tell my wife about this expense. ;-) But I do already
have the motor and should be getting a free trailer. So that helps.

I went gold on the ply. Meranti from Noah's, they had a very good
price but the shipping really bumped up the cost. But I'm going to
place the average Laguna cost at $1k assuming most will watch costs
more than I did.

So, then I betting 4 Lagunas to repair a busted boiler. Hope your
CHristmas brings more cheer than a busted boiler.
