We have several animals in immediate need of rescue, including a mama and her nursing pups and a hospice case. Must receive rescue commitments by Friday, 2/27 at 3pm!

Tater Tot (A043946): Tater Tot is an intact male English Bulldog, he is a warm brindle and white and estimated to be 3 years of age. Tater Tot arrived to the shelter as a stray on 2/18/26 in very poor condition. Tater’s intake exam showed bite wounds in multiple healing stages, corneal edema, blepharospasms, diarrhea, dehydration, weak anal tone, and a large ulceration around the anal area. Upon starting numerous medications, Tater Tot showed almost immediate improvement- and now a week later has bright open eyes, clear skin, and improved diarrhea. Despite these health advancements, Tater does still continually drop urine and feces. Tater Tot will require further evaluations at a full service veterinarian to determine a diagnosis and treatment plan- rule out incontinence. We have heard some whisperings of Tater’s previous life with his owner, reports of living outside in the dirt with numerous other intact dogs, and being attacked by the other dogs daily. Tater Tot has a seemingly indomitable spirit. He’s HAPPY. He has a bright, spunky, squishy personality, and appears pleased when viewing another dog. Tater Tot is microchipped, vaccinated, has tested negative for heartworm disease. Active treatment course to transfer to pulling rescue.

Lilly (A044118): Lilly is a black female Retriever Mix, she weighs 60 pounds and is estimated to be 1 year of age. Lilly arrived to the shelter on 2/23/26 with 3 other adult dogs, and her 5 nursing puppies (estimated 3 days of age). Lilly’s owner was incarcerated, she was part of the large seized custody impound. Lilly’s legal emancipation date is 3/1/26, but her babies are at high risk to contract illness in our care. We must move her offsite as soon as possible, and we can transfer her immediately after her hold time. At this time, there has been no contact from her owner. Lilly was very sweet upon arrival, but with every day, showing more protectiveness towards her babies. Lilly and her babies may return to the shelter for sterilizations once weaned, and she has received a microchip, vaccines, and has tested negative for heartworm disease.

Nadine (A043439) is a 10+ year old mixed breed dog and weighs 43 pounds. Nadine arrived at the shelter as a stray with her sister, Ruby. Nadine is a sweet, gentle senior girl who urgently needs help. She is geriatric with muscle wasting and she is struggling with severe, chronic pyoderma on her belly and legs, along with severe chronic ear infections in both ears. She was clearly in rough shape upon arrival. Even with medical care and medications, her condition has worsened—recent exams show thick yellow nasal discharge and coughing, and she has begun refusing food, eating only a tiny amount of lunch meat. Nadine has also lost 2 pounds, and her overall decline is deeply concerning. While she is receiving initial care, her medical needs go far beyond what the shelter can provide. Nadine deserves comfort, relief, and kindness in her golden years, not the stress of a kennel. She is AS-IS rescue only. Nadine is heartworm negative, up to date on all vaccines, and spayed.

Sheba (A043308) is a 12-year-old, lilac mixed breed, and weighs 54 pounds. She was surrendered by her owner, who shared that Sheba is great with dogs and kids, but her health has declined significantly. She has had a mass near her vulva for 6–8 months, which has worsened dramatically in the past month. Sheba is also flea-infested, has scarred ears, and multiple fractured teeth. Our veterinarian suspects a vaginal polyp or other mass, and Sheba will need a spay and surgical removal of the mass, along with further diagnostics and treatment that go beyond what the shelter can provide. While she is receiving initial care here, the shelter environment is no longer appropriate for her medical needs. Despite everything, Sheba remains calm, loving, and so deserving of comfort and dignity in her golden years.  UPDATE - NOW HOSPICE:  Sheba has been reviewed by specialists. The mass goes deeper than originally thought and may be inoperable. Sheba would be a true hospice case at this point. She is angelic and gentle and full of love to give.

Thank you for the continued support of our lifesaving mission.

Thank you,
Andrea Barlow
