At the Humane Society of Greater Miami, Mator, Ronnie, Big Chungus, Jacob, Lamar, and Sammy are trying so hard not to fall apart. These six gorgeous pups have been at the shelter for several months — some more than two years — and staying hopeful currently feels like the toughest battle ever. 

It’s not even about the constant overwhelming noises at the shelter or how hard and cold their kennel floors feel every morning. It’s about the pain of being passed by day in, day out, likely because they’re Pitbulls. Mator, Ronnie, Big Chungus, Jacob, Lamar, and Sammy have never been given a chance to prove they are not the “dangerous” “difficult” dogs that people often label them as. There’s a lot of negative chatter about Pitbulls, but the only thing dangerous about these dogs is the way their hearts suddenly burst with love like an overflowing river.
