Is anyone trying any of the new Geneva rootstocks? I grafted to 25 of the G 202 rootstocks this spring. It's advertised as being very resistant to fireblight & woolly apple aphid, tolerant to crown and root rots, rated low for suckering and burr knots and grows to M26 size. Cold hardiness to be determined.
I talked to Tino at Cummins nursery and they will have a limited supply of the G969 rootstock available for 2015. It appears identical to G 202 with it's size being between M7 & MM106. I put in an order for 25 for next spring.
I used B118 this spring for my "wildlife" orchard and G202 & M7 for my "home" orchard. I've use Antonovka & MM111 rootstock in the past and am growing old waiting for my trees to bear fruit. Hoping these newer rootstocks will give me apples while I still have teeth :).
