Think past Mansfield, past Tioga County, past Pennsylvania, and outside of the U.S. A.  Western Europe has a long standing history of music that is very different from our own.  It is exemplified by the Jewish Religion, although this particular sound is not specific to any religious group, but more the geographic region of western Europe.  Listen to some examples here.
