CITIES OF LIGHT
May 27-31 @ Skokie Theater
http://www.skokietheatre.org/cities-of-light.html

Rebecca Joy Fletcher in her one-woman musical celebrating the vital and brilliant world of European-Jewish cabaret between the wars.  CITIES OF LIGHT brings you the the story of Katarina, a witty and sensual cabaret performer flees Berlin on the heels of Hitler’s rise to power, looking for the places where culture and creativity by Jews can still thrive and survive. Through her journey, we celebrate an entire community of almost forgotten, brilliant artists, many of whom perished in the Holocaust. Featuring great musical numbers, these songs are performed in English, with a peppering of the original French, German, Yiddish and Hebrew - from heartbreak to satire to downright silly. Framed by Katarina’s story this journey has inspired and delighted audiences at sold-out performances in Paris, London, Warsaw, Jerusalem and across the United States.
