Exploratory Committee meeting recap and next steps!

Asalaam Alaikom ICF Exploratory Committee:

Alhamdulillah we have found two promising options for the interim musalla, which we will share with you at the next meeting, Tuesday, May 29 at 8pm in Boelter.  InshAllah we will sign a lease June 1 (not to be confused with an open date of June 1) -- please make dua for this project!

Thank you to those who came out to our last Exploratory Committee meeting.  As a recap, we discussed student needs to maintain religious/academic life balance.  The needs and recommendation of services are (this is not a comprehensive or static list):

-          Imam/Chaplain (even part-time, office hours), can give lessons and counseling for issues that students have

-          halal hang out/social space

-          Library for religious books and study space (later a book store)

-          Snack bar vending machine

-          Wudu facilities in the space

Until an interim musalla space is secured and we get down to logistics, some areas of help are:

• Getting the word out.  Please tell all your friends and family about our project.  There is a marketing packet on the home page of our website at www.ucmasjid.com.
• If you haven't already, please like our page on Facebook at www.facebook.com/pages/UCLA-Masjid/168692036732
• We will call on you as we tour new facilities so that you can provide your eyes and valuable opinions
• When the occasion arises, we will invite you to attend key meetings with potential donors so that you can discuss the student perspective and student needs
