Hi Jennifer,

For case analysis 2, it's up to your team on which exhibits to include. You should select exhibits that fit with the scope of the case and the analysis. For instance, given News Corp. is a corporation with many businesses (e.g., 100+ newspapers), it doesn't make sense to include a standard relative V-C analysis.

I will provide a few additional tips on exhibit selection tomorrow during class.

Best regards,
Professor Fern

Hi Professor Fern,

You mentioned in your previous email that it doesn't make sense to
include a standard relative v-c analysis for our exhibits, but would
an analysis of the v-c model be appropriate/sufficient in evaluating
News Corporation's Business Level strategy? Please advise.

Best regards,
Bee

Hi Bee,

The V-C diagram should be applied at the level of a single business. News Corp has many businesses (100s of businesses), which would require 100s of corresponding V-C diagrams. Don't try this! :-)

You can discuss value and cost broadly, without including V-C diagram(s). The important question is, how does News Corp "benefit" its various businesses, where "benefit" means increasing customer value or reducing costs (i.e., V-C of each business).

Best regards,
Professor Fern
