Subject: Email regarding "New Member Showcases" & "Coming Out Shows" (Office of Greek Life)
Good Afternoon MGFC, LGC, AGC, NPHC Council organizations, and other Greek Organizations,
I hope all are having a safe, fun, and relaxing Spring Break. As you may know, the New Member Education/Intake process will be coming to a close on April 13th. Many of you have asked about doing a “Coming out Show”, “Surfacing”, or “New Member Showcase” for the new members within your Greek organizations. In regards to these presentations, the following protocol needs to be followed and carried out before the presentation can occur.
The Office of Greek Life will require the follow steps to ensure that all parties are well aware of the presentations being held both on/off campus:
· The Greek Organization seeking to present a “New Member Showcase” MUST send an email to the Office of Greek Life indicating the following information:
-The Name of your Greek Organization
-The Time in which the presentation will occur (Ex. 6:00pm)
-The Date and location of where the presentation will take place (4/13/13 at theUniversity Union)
-Any information that is important to the presentation (Flyers, Documentation, etc…)
· Greek Organizations will also be REQUIRED to inform the following parties about the presentations (Via Email):
-University Police Department
-Location/Facilities Supervisor(Ex. If the presentation is being held in the Newing College Courtyard, then the respective Area Director, Residential Directors, and staff should be informed prior the event being held)-The Director of Greek Life, L.C. Coghill and other supporting staff (gr...@binghamton.edu)
-Your respective Council President
-Chapter Advisor (if available)
· Please make sure that prior to the presentation, a discussion should occur with one of the OGL Staff members to maintain transparency and communication so that if any issues may arise, they can be addressed ahead of time.*We also ask that all "New Member Showcase" presentations are conducted in a RESPECTFUL MANNER, and that they are conculded in a timely fashion. In addition, presentations will not be scheduled after 10:00pm.*If you have any general questions, concerns, or comments regarding a “New Member Showcase” on the university campus, please stop by or email the Office of Greek Life.
