Tired of one-time service experiences with random community organizations?

Looking for a more meaningful, long-term partnership between your student group and an organization in the community?

Find your long-term match at the CCE's "Speed Dating for Service!"

What is "Speed Dating for Service?"

On April 10th, 2013 from 12-1:30pm in the University Union Mandela Room, local nonprofit organizations will gather to create meaningful, long-term partnerships with student organizations on campus. During 8-10 minute "dates," student organizations will have the opportunity to interview representatives from local nonprofits to discuss their service needs (anything from helping to coordinate and work at events, holding fundraisers, direct service to populations in need, I.T. assistance, help with promotional and marketing materials, etc.).

What Are the Benefits?

• Saved time: Matches can result in sustained partnerships, which will reduce the amount of time and effort you spend searching for opportunities to volunteer or fundraise.
• That warm fuzzy feeling: You know the feeling...when you've helped advance a cause you believe in or assisted someone else in need. You and your friends can feel this way on a regular basis when you develop a long-lasting partnership with an organization that really matters to you.
  
• Improvement to the community: Not only does service make you feel great, it also meets a genuine community need and helps advance the mission of important organizations trying to make positive changes in Broome County. That's what it's all about, isn't it?
  

We know it works!

Several student organizations have already developed successful, long-term relationships with nonprofit organizations throughout the community. For example, the Boys and Girls Club Mentors student group and the Boys & Girls Club of Binghamton received a $15,000 grant from the Newman’s Own Foundation as a result of their strong partnership, which has played an important role in helping Binghamton youth succeed.
