SERVIDOR VERY SLOW

Hello,  I am Lourdes Ortiz Alvarez a PhD student from the University of Granada (Spain; http://profith.ugr.es/actibate?lang=en). The page of MG-RAST don´t work correctly. I am trying upload some samples, but the submission was incorrect. I followed all the instructions, however, since a few days ago, it has not worked properly. Is a problem for your servidor?

we have 3 users attempting to download data from MG-RAST with very badly written scripts. We are playing wackamole blocking their IP addresses.

Until we have a general solution for this, this will keep occuring. And slow things down for short periods of time.

I put up a note on the server (and removed it earlier today) explaining some of this. The load generated on our infrastructure is so high that we are seeing systems fail.

When one of us is online we can block them manually. Working on a general solution for this is hard and takes resources away from other important things.  We will notify everyone once we have a solution in place.

Update: we are now testing a throttling solution that will limit the number of requests per second for all users. Hopefully this will restore sanity. We have also removed all blocks that we had to put in place.
