Dear Members,
Please review the attached Constitution ... (MFU Constitution ... May 2023 Meeting Corrections)
It incorporates all of our agreed suggestions from the General Meeting of May 2023. If there are no errors in my capturing of these agreed recommendations, I am proposing a Motion to adopt this revised constitution during our meeting in June. For your convenience please refer to the following corrections and paginations as authorized in our May meeting ...
1. MFU Catchment Area ... Membership of MFU is expanded beyond the triangle but limited to residents within the state of North Carolina (Reference to Submission by Senior Architect Desmond Anyanwu Nwaogwugwu
2. DELETED ... Pg 5, Article V (2)(a) (iii). Members rejected this provision allowing the spouse of an mbaise son who refuses to join to be admitted. This would contradict our Mission of promoting cohesion in families and among members.
3. Unexcused absences from meetings changed from 3 months to 6 months for loss of membership benefits and privileges ... (Pg 6, Article Vi(30(ii)
4. Relocation definitions relate to moving out of the State of North Carolina, and not the Triangle as previously written (Also see NOTATION REMARKS. (Pg 6)
5. A member who has medical or other emergency situations may avoid the penalty for not hosting and the failure to arrange for a replacement host family (Pg 14, Article IX (10(C)(i) (per submission of Sir Maurice Ejere)
6. All references to the EXECUTIVE refers to the elected Executive Council Members (Article XI(e)
7. DELETED ... section allowing a spouse to designate a third party to receive bereavement benefits so long as married couples are jointly registered as a family unit with MFU (Article XI (3)(4)
8. Members window to pay Bereavement Levy expanded to 90 days (Pg 24, Article XI (4)(a)
Sincerely,
Charles Abiahu.
