Marblehead MA (March 7, 2013) – “It’s the 42nd anniversary of the Art Auction to benefit the Marblehead Festival of Arts, and we are celebrating!” announced Lynne DeVoe, Festival President. “On Saturday, April 6, we will have a great party with outstanding auction items, featuring the best of the Auction’s traditions and many new and wonderful contributions.” The party gets underway at 5 pm at Abbot Hall, 188 Washington Street, with a silent auction, fantastic food presented by Dario Puerto of Dario’s Catering, plus wine and good company. The distinguished auctioneer for the evening, Gene Arnould will begin the live auction at 7:15.

“The Art Auction is a major fundraiser for the Marblehead Festival of Arts, held over the July 4th holiday,” said Kiki Taron Kinney, Auction co-chair. “We will be adding some new dimensions to past auction favorites to ensure that everyone has a great time. We look forward to a large, enthusiastic crowd that evening.”

In addition to the many beautiful art pieces, donated by a variety of artists from all over Essex County, many unusual and fun items will be up for bids. One is an art “masterpiece” created last year at the Children’s Festival. Under the guidance of artist Susan Fader, children created a fanciful sea world of fish, which would make an outstanding wall hanging in any play room or a one-of-a-kind piece for a restaurant setting.

Other items include baskets of goodies from local restaurateurs and retailers from both Atlantic Avenue and Old Town. “Shopping and dining around town will appeal to all our Auction guests,” added Taron Kinney.

On the evening of Thursday, March 28, there will be an Art Auction Preview “Charity Night” at The Landing Restaurant, highlighted by a Herb-Nordia Retrospective Exhibition. For more than 30 years, Herb Goldberg and Nordia Kay, two of Marblehead’s much-loved artists, have created a special collector’s art piece for the Festival’s Annual Art Auction. All are invited.

Art Auction tickets will be available at locations around town in mid-March for $25 and $30 that evening.
