Christmas Walk
Marblehead's Christmas Walk begins this weekend. The MFoA home page has a link to the full schedule of Christmas Walk events, which extend through December 23.
Tree Lighting Ceremony
The annual tree lighting will take place outside Abbot Hall Friday evening, December 3. Festivities begin at 6:00 PM, with the tree lighting at 7:00 PM. The MFoA will be serving hot chocolate.
Artisans' Holiday Marketplace
The MFoA's 8th annual Artisans' Holiday Marketplace will be held inside Abbot Hall on Saturday, December 4, from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM; and Sunday, December 5, from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. More than 20 artisans will have booths. Follow the link from the home page for a complete listing of participating artisans.
New to the Winter Marketplace this year are David Barber’s hand-carved fish; Karen Eames’ hand-crafted tapestry bags; and Hope Carpenter Manseau’s needle felting and hand-dyed yarns. Also featured are Anna Igo, folk art painter in the style of JOJ Frost; Martha Quigley, paintings, prints and notecards, who has added hand-painted flags to her offerings; glass artist Jeff Mentuck, whose work includes hand-blown glass paperweights, marbles and vases; Kristen Fudge, creator of scarves, sweaters and other items from recycled items; Steve Eames, photographer of New England landscapes; Frieda Grotgha, who recycles sails into totebags and other useful items; and Patti Baker, maker of Nantucket lightship baskets.
The Marketplace is proud to welcome back Teri MacMillan, crystalline glazed porcelain; Peter Newton, stained glass ornaments; Pam Duncan, argentium sterling silver jewelry; Lauren Genovisi, soy candles; Deb Frazier, hand-painted silk scarves, shawls and pillows; Janet Barnet, quilts and table runners; Deb Scanlon, soaps and bath and body products; Helen Najarian, handcrafted functional pottery; Linda Tanfani, hand-soldered beach glass jewelry; Kiki Taron Kinney, stone set silver and lampwork bead jewelry, also introducing new earrings; Barbara and George Burr, wooden advent trees and ornamental cards; Ursina Amsler, original art calendars; and Franny McKeever, seed bead jewelry.
Hospice of the North Shore will sell notecards. The Community of Friends will present a special guest from 1 to 2 pm each day. Jacob Abbisso, the Balloon Kid, is a talented 11-year-old student who makes balloon animals to raise funds for the Marblehead Animal Shelter.
Logo Contest Voting
A panel of judges has selected four finalists in this year's Logo Contest, with the winner to be determined by public ballot. Voting will be held through December 19. The voting locations are posted on the home page. Follow the link to see this year's finalists. Ballots may be cast in Abbot Hall at the MFoA's booth at Artisans's Holiday Marketplace, December 4 and 5.
