DECromancer shipped the BBGW with some of their versions of the MFMulator. What are people using when they want a newer OS image?

There's a Debian 7 BBGW image from DECromancer dated 2021. Do the BBB Debian 11.9 images on their site work on the BBGW?

Anybody using an 11.8 BBB image from pdp8online, or rolling their own on top of the Sept 2023 11.7 images from beaglebone.org?

Thanks,
--S.

Hi Steven,

We haven't had any requests to update the BBGW image, but if you need one we can get one out next week.

If you feel like tinkering, the existing BBB 11.9 image should work with minor modification to the /boot/uEnv.txt file.

Understandable - "freshness" isn't really the top priority for this use case...

I don't mind tinkering and reporting back.

I confirmed today that the BBB_deb11.9_mfm_v4.31_2024-10-23.zip image can be loaded onto the older BBGW devices with no modifications, and it works just fine.

Enjoy,
Joan

Looks like the DECromancer image `BBB_deb11.9_mfm_v4.31_2024-10-23.img` is working on a BBGW (v1.0) here, too. The mfm_emu board itself is a DECromancer rev C, serial number 007.

> debian@blockem1:/opt/mfm/emu$ ./mfm_emu --version
> Board revision C detected
> Version 4.31
> Program requires options: file drive
> debian@blockem1:/opt/mfm/emu$

Host system is a Tektronix 6130, and the BBGW is on the network directly through a TP-Link "UE306(US) VER:1.6" USB 3.0 Gigabit Ethernet dongle.
