Actually have a status update worth posting.
1) If you have any interest in SA-1000 (8") drive support I am working on it. I think reading is working. Waiting to be able to get together with someone local with a system to work on emulation. Email or post if you are interested.
2) I have found some bugs that are significant enough to announce. They are fixed in 1.26. They only affected reading disks with errors so if you're just using emulation they shouldn't affect you.
Version 1.23 would not retry reads on error.
Since version 1.16b the retry logic had an error where it did not use the best sectors across multiple reads. The data recovered is correct. The bug reduced the probability of recovering all the data when soft read errors occur.
If you kept a transitions file you can reprocess it with mfm_util to see if more data is recoverable. Otherwise you will need to reread the disk if you wish to try to recover more data.
3) Some changes made for Syquest that may also help other disks. If you got an error like below you may wish to retry reading and see if the changes help. There are still some strange behaviors with Syquest disks that I hope to look at more.
